This position is a 0.60 FTE.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Graduate of accredited speech language therapy program with master’s degree or equivalent.
  • Valid Washington ESA certificate in Speech Language Therapy.
  • Prefer training and/or experience in assessment, IEP development, intervention planning.
  • ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence (preferred).
  • Candidate should have a sound understanding of regulations governing special education.
  • Successful Washington State Patrol and Federal Bureau of Investigation Fingerprint Clearance.

General Duties and Responsibilities: 

To provide, under the general supervision of the Director of Special Services and according to all special education law and regulation, diagnostic evaluations and therapy, to students ages 3-22; to function as a member of all special education teams; to help students reach maximum performance level, and to use these skills to the fullest to function in the community within the limits of their capabilities. 

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Administers comprehensive evaluations, interprets assessment results, and writes detailed reports to determine student eligibility for special education services.
  • Develops and implements Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) that address students’ communication needs in collaboration with the IEP team.
  • Ensures all required paperwork, including reports, IEPs, and documentation, is completed accurately and within required timelines.
  • Maintains timely and accurate student records, data, and progress reports.
  • Communicates effectively with parents, educators, and related service providers to support student success.
  • Actively participates as a collaborative team member in IEP and eligibility meetings, contributing expertise in communication development and disorders.
  • Provides consultation and training to parents, teachers, and school staff on strategies to support communication skills in the educational setting.
  • Assesses students for the need for augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) devices and assists in selection, implementation, and training for students and staff.
  • Designs and implements individualized therapy programs to enhance speech, language, and social communication skills.
  • Provides specialized intervention for students with autism spectrum disorders, fluency disorders (stuttering), articulation, language delays, and other communication challenges.
  • Supports students aged 14-22 in developing communication skills for prevocational and transition planning.
  • Stays current with research, evidence-based practices, and new techniques in speech-language pathology.
  • Attends professional development opportunities and educational meetings to enhance knowledge and skills.
  • Supervises and provides guidance to educational assistants as needed.
  • Collaborates closely with teachers, occupational therapists, physical therapists, school psychologists, and other professionals to support students’ academic and functional communication needs.
  • Performs other related duties as required to support student success and school-wide initiatives.
