Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Assistant Mechanic to join our team at the Bus Garage. This full-time position involves assisting in the maintenance and repair of our fleet of buses, ensuring they operate safely and efficiently. The ideal candidate will have a passion for mechanics, a strong work ethic, and the ability to work well in a team environment.

Responsibilities
- Assist lead mechanics in performing routine maintenance and repairs on buses, including oil changes, brake inspections, and tire rotations.
- Conduct inspections of bus systems and components to identify issues and recommend repairs.
- Help troubleshoot mechanical problems and perform necessary repairs under supervision.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, ensuring tools and equipment are properly stored.
- Document maintenance and repair work in accordance with company policies and procedures.
- Assist in maintaining inventory of parts and supplies needed for repairs and maintenance.
- Comply with safety regulations and standards while performing all tasks.
- Participate in training and development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge in bus maintenance.

Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical training in automotive or diesel mechanics preferred.
- Previous experience in a mechanical or maintenance role is a plus, but not required.
- Basic understanding of mechanical systems and troubleshooting techniques.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment and communicate well with others.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Willingness to learn and adapt to new challenges.
- Valid driver's license; CDL preferred but not required.
- Ability to lift heavy objects and perform physical tasks as needed.
- Must be able to pass a background check and meet all district employment requirements.
