Go Like the Wind Montessori School, a part of Whitmore Lake Public Schools, is a diverse community of learners and educators. Our dedicated team provides an authentic Montessori education where children from birth to 6th grade can become independent thinkers, collaborative learners, creative problem solvers, and compassionate citizens. Since being founded in 1987, GLTW has been a not-for-profit, tuition-based school. In 2022, it merged with Whitmore Lake Public Schools to become a public Montessori school. The program remains tuition-based for infant, toddler, and young primary students ( 3 and 4-year-olds) with a tuition-free Magnet program for grades K-6th.

WHO WE NEED:

We’re looking for a passionate and experienced Montessori educator ready to take on a unique dual role that blends classroom teaching with schoolwide curriculum leadership. This team member will co-lead our Lower Elementary (grades 1–3) Montessori classroom while also supporting the curriculum and instructional alignment for our Montessori program, Kindergarten through upper elementary.

You believe in the power of the Montessori method, know how to meet students where they are, and love helping teachers grow their craft. You’re collaborative, organized, and excited to build something exceptional for kids.

WHAT YOU NEED:

Montessori Elementary certification (AMI or AMS) required
Additional certification in Infant/Toddler or Primary Montessori preferred
Minimum 3 years of Montessori classroom experience
Experience with coaching or curriculum leadership is a plus
Deep understanding of Montessori philosophy and the full scope of its curriculum
Strong communication, collaboration, and time management skills
Commitment to supporting a joyful, inclusive, and respectful learning environment
Bachelor’s degree required; state teaching certification not required, but a bonus

IN THIS ROLE

You’ll wear two important hats:

As a Montessori Elementary Lead Teacher (Grades 1–3), you will lead a Lower Elementary Montessori classroom, partnering with a state-certified teacher to deliver a robust, child-centered curriculum that meets both Montessori and state educational standards. This position requires flexibility, initiative, and the ability to manage multiple responsibilities in a dynamic learning environment.

Including but not limited to:

Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging Montessori lessons in all core subject areas, aligned with the developmental needs of children in grades 1-3
Collaborate with the state-certified teacher to meet state academic standards while preserving the integrity of the Montessori philosophy
Observe and assess student progress; maintain records of student learning and behavior
Build strong relationships with students and families
Foster a peaceful, inclusive, and respectful classroom environment that reflects Montessori values
Communicate regularly with families, providing updates on student progress and classroom life

As a Curriculum Specialist (Kindergarten–Elementary), you will also lead the alignment, development, and implementation of the Montessori curriculum across Kindergarten-Elementary GLTW program levels in collaboration with school administration, supporting teaching teams with planning, resources, and professional development.

Oversee curriculum development and implementation across Kindergarten-Elementary GLTW’s programs
Support classroom teams with long- and short-term lesson planning, ensuring alignment with Montessori principles and WLPS expectations
Lead professional development and coaching sessions related to the Montessori curriculum and best practices
Collaborate with school administration to ensure consistency and excellence across classrooms
Help evaluate and enhance curriculum materials and instructional practices
Serve as a resource and mentor for instructional staff across all program levels

WHAT YOU NEED

Montessori teaching certification (AMI or AMS) at the Elementary level required; additional Infant/Toddler or Primary certification preferred.
Minimum of 3 years of experience in a Montessori classroom, leadership, or coaching.
Deep knowledge of Montessori philosophy and curriculum, including scope and sequence for multiple age groups.
Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
Passion for collaboration and supporting the professional growth of others.
