A Vacancy exists for Director of Curriculum & Instruction-STEM at the Upper Merion Area School District for the School Year 2025/2026.

Qualifications:

Master’s degree required.
PA certification as Supervisor of Curriculum and Instruction or Letter of Eligibility.
At least five (5) years of teaching experience, both K-12 and adults preferred.
Knowledge of current legislation and trends in curriculum, instruction, assessment, and professional development.
Excellent communication and human relations skills.
Expertise in technology as it is integrated with curriculum and used for assessment and data collection and analysis.
Ability to communicate effectively.
Strong background in data analysis.
Original certificates of clearance from the State Police, Child Abuse Registry, and PDE FBI.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Utilizes a data-driven system and an operational framework for a systematic curriculum design, delivery, and evaluation review based on Science, Technology & Engineering, Environmental Literacy and Sustainability (STEELS) Standards, 21^st century practices, workforce readiness, and student achievement data.
Lead the development, review, and implementation of a rigorous and engaging PK-12 STEM curriculum that aligns with state standards and national frameworks (e.g., STEELS Standards).
Collaborate with teachers to integrate interdisciplinary STEM learning experiences across all grade levels and subject areas.
Promote innovative and effective instructional strategies, including inquiry-based learning, project-based learning, and technology integration.
Oversee the selection and implementation of high-quality STEM instructional materials and resources.
Develop and implement strategies to ensure equitable access to high-quality STEM education for all students, including underrepresented populations.
District-wide Assessment Coordinator
Serves as an instructional leader overseeing ongoing data-driven professional development and the new teacher induction program.
Cooperation with building principals determines the nature of and implements a district-wide standardized achievement and diagnostic testing program.
In cooperation with the Director of Technology, implements and oversees systems for data collection and analysis of all internal and external assessments related to student achievement.
Develops and maintains a district-wide database of curriculum and educational/training information.
Communicates district educational philosophy, goals, programs, and policies to staff, students, and the community.
Maintains contact with the Pennsylvania Department of Education, state and national Curriculum Centers, educational laboratories, and other agencies to maintain current information on new or changing federal or state programs and legislation.
Maintains liaison with professional and community organizations.
Recommends new or revised policies/procedures and assures that current policies and practices are up to date and under the law.
Prepares research/compliance reports required by the District, Federal, State, and outside agencies.
Conducts classroom observations.
Assists in identifying, selecting, and using community resources, educational entities, and business partners in the total instructional program.
Maintain professional growth and development through seminars, workshops, and professional affiliations to keep abreast of the latest trends in expertise and technology and disseminate this knowledge to other staff members.
Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Terms of Employment: 12 Month

Salary (benefits included): Commensurate with experience per the Act 93 Agreement
