Posting Information: We are currently hiring for a Technology & Design (3D Printing, Drafting, & Blueprint Reading) Career & Technical Education Teacher for Oakland Bay Junior High School beginning with the 2025-2026 school year. Open until filled.

Salary: $64,664 - $119,032 annually, depending on experience.

FLSA Status: Exempt

Overview

The Technology & Design (3D Printing, Drafting, & Blueprint Reading) Career & Technical Education (CTE) teacher supports Shelton School District’s Strategic Plan and Shelton High School's School Improvement Plan by introducing 7th and 8th grade students to blueprint reading, technical drawing, 3D designs, and printing. Students will explore the fundamentals of design communication and gain foundational STEM skills that align with Shelton’s High School engineering pathway. This position will provide students with a taste of the tools and techniques used in fields like architecture, product design, and mechanical engineering—while building their confidence and curiosity along the way.

Requirements

Washington State CTE Certification or eligibility to obtain via Plan 2 route.
Experience or training in drafting, SketchUp, CAD, 3D printing, or design-related disciplines.
Ability to build strong classroom routines and connect curriculum to real-world applications.
Enthusiasm for cultivating students’ interest in STEM and technology careers.
Knowledge or ability to learn middle school-appropriate instruction methods.
Passion for working with early adolescents in exploring hands-on environments.
Willingness to actively support Shelton School District's Strategic Plan and initiatives.

Essential Functions

Teach core modules from the Engineering Technology framework including Graphic Communication, 3D Design, and CAD Drafting.
Introduce blueprint reading, technical sketching, and basic design principles.
Guide students in using 3D printers and CAD software for small design projects.
Promote student creativity through mini-builds, design challenges, and collaborative problem-solving.
Ensure all projects are aligned with CTE standards and 21st Century Skills.
Foster equity and inclusion in the classroom, supporting students with diverse interests and learning styles.
Collaborate with colleagues and advisory board members to ensure alignment with high school pathways and industry trends.
Maintain a safe and structured lab/shop learning environment.
Engage all learners through inclusive instruction and project-based learning.
Creates and delivers lesson plans in alignment with District approved curriculum following the scope and sequence of their grade level team.
Develops and maintains positive, professional relationships with students, other staff, families, and administrators.
Advises families of student progress for the purpose of supporting teacher’s expectations, developing methods for improvement and/or reinforcing classroom goals in the home environment.
Assesses students for the purpose of providing feedback to students, families, and administration regarding students’ progress, expectations, goals, etc.
Collaborates with other teachers to review data, implement interventions, align their scope and sequence, and improve their instructional practices with a focus on student growth.
Collaborates with school personnel, families, and various community agencies for the purpose of improving the quality of student outcomes, developing solutions, and delivering District approved curriculum.
Directs para educators, volunteers, and/or student aides for the purpose of providing an effective school program and addressing the needs of individual students.
Monitors student activities for the purpose of providing a safe and optimal learning environment.
Prepares teaching materials and reports (e.g., grades, attendance, anecdotal records, etc.) for the purpose of implementing lesson plans and providing documentation of teacher and student progress.
Reports incidents as appropriate for the purpose of maintaining personal safety of students, providing a positive learning environment, and adhering to education code, district, and/or school policies.
Participates in various meetings (e.g., family conferences, in-service training, site meetings, etc.) for the purpose of receiving and/or providing information and/or meeting credential requirements.
Attends meetings and professional development trainings as appropriate or directed.
Maintains confidentiality and tact in all aspects of employment.
Maintains a positive attitude and views students with an asset-based approach.
Supports the District’s Strategic Plan and Shelton High School's School Improvement Plan.
Abides by all District Policies and Procedures as well as all applicable statutes and guidelines.
