As the Executive Director, you will report directly to the Associate Superintendent of Ed Services, be a part of the Curriculum and Instruction Department and a district leader in San Francisco Unified School District.

Essential Duties

The duties specified below are representative of the range of duties assigned to the job code/class and are not intended to be an inclusive or exhaustive list.

As the Executive Director you will:

● Lead, establish and implement a compelling vision for the College and Career Readiness team that embraces anti-racist practices, supports and complements for Tier 1, 2 and 3 instruction, clear access and equity opportunities for all students to include focal populations, build internal and external partnerships, collaborate with local public agencies and strengthen student pathways to college and career success.

● Seek, write and execute grants that will support the expansion of existing programs such as internships and various pathways as well as establish new programs that will further support underserved populations.

● Lead to support and increase student success in pathway programs, accelerated courses and dual enrollment offerings. This will require the ability to deepen relationships with school sites and the high school leadership team.

● Be forthright, innovative, and proactive in identifying gap areas of need and work towards addressing these

● Effectively and accurately manage a complex multi-million dollar budget that crosses multiple orgs from various funding sources.

● Manage significant grants to include the Effectiveness Educator Grant and the A-G Block Grant, oversee the implementation of student service programs such as Dual Immersion, Credit Recovery, AVID, CTE and student internships, supervise the implementation of College Board programs and manage the A-G district wide reference list.

● Manage to meet the goals of the superintendent and district in the area of College and Career Readiness and regular prepare board reports, presentations, and provide clear communication and responses to the Board of Education on a regular basis

● Work effectively with the High School Division leadership and school site leadership to implement programs and utilization of resources responsibly and troubleshoot any barriers

● Provide accurate and timely reporting of approved and implemented grants.

● Supervise multiple teams to include directors, supervisors, program managers and TSAs. Supervision of staff includes individuals who have assigned locations in the central office as well as school sites.

● Guide teams in their committed work streams, persist in growing staff capacity and create extensive opportunities for communication, collaboration and professional development. Establish and lead team meetings, 1:1 meetings and cross departmental meetings.

● Provide critical, timely and meaningful feedback to build staff capacity and create significant progress in the work.

● Develop strong lines of communication with various teams, partners, reporting staff and other departments. Create and deliver presentations at Board of Education meetings, Curriculum Committee meetings and in other spaces as needed. Connect and maintain relationships with foundations and philanthropic organizations to establish financial support for programs. Work closely with the executive director of content teams to establish consistent processes. Actively participate in all district wide events as appropriate.

● Develop and extend external relationships that will support an increase in achievement outcomes for students and provide opportunities for learning in innovative and creative ways for students. Actively pursue local and national initiatives/opportunities to support College and Career Readiness.

The strongest candidates will have:

● Capacity to clearly communicate the vision, goals and mission of College and Career Readiness.

● Advanced knowledge of post secondary pathways and opportunities for students.

● Knowledge of Career Technical Education (CTE) programming.

● Experience and ability to successfully navigate and negotiate partnerships to align, sequence and enhance CCR opportunities for African-American and other targeted students, PreK-12.

● Knowledge of San Francisco’s public schools.

● Knowledge of SFUSD graduation requirements and college admission requirements, as well as the community college application process.

● Experience at multiple levels (elementary, middle and/or high) and/or site-based/central.

● Experience in grant writing.

● Knowledge of San Francisco’s public schools/urban public schools and a passionate belief in SFUSD’s commitment to instructional leadership as a lever toward delivering on the SFUSD Graduate Profile.

● Strategic leadership and management experience in a K-12 urban public educational setting

● Four (4) years of experience as a Site Leader

● Masters degree in education or related field

● Specific experience in college and career readiness work in an urban school district

● A strong record of managing organizational change and initiating key innovations

● Strong analytic and systems thinking necessary to interpret data to inform goals and strategy, as well as

● build infrastructure where none exists.

● Ability to work effectively across multiple functions and roles within a complex organization.

● A proven record of effectively planning, organizing and using resources to take action and achieve goals.

● Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build effective working relationships with senior level district staff and colleagues.

● Success leading effective teams and individuals

● Experience and success with effective written and verbal communication, facilitation and presentations to large groups and a variety of audiences (e.g., staff meetings, executive briefings, public board meetings, memos).

● Ability to work effectively in difficult situations that involve confidential and sensitive matters.

● Strong computer skills including GSuite and Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).

Minimum Qualifications

● Possession of a valid California Administrative credential or eligibility for a California Administrative Credential

● Four (4) years of experience as a central or site administrator

SFUSD offers a competitive salary of $164,038 - $213,383/annually commensurate with experience in a similar position. This position is a one-year contract which may be renewed on an annual basis.
