The Supervisor will lead and manage the SFUSD Teacher Residency programs and the SFUSD Induction Program (SIP) New Teacher Support program. As the Supervisor, you will be a part of the Professional Learning and Coaching Department. In this role, you are responsible for the professional development of all residents and new teachers; and managing the partnerships with the corresponding Institute for Higher Education (IHE’s). Additionally you will support all first and second year teachers eligible to enroll in the SFUSD Induction program, and interns/permit credential new teachers. The supervisor supervises staff members who maintain databases including credential information, site-based and centralized professional development and program completion records per the CTC state requirements. The essential duties and responsibilities are described below by the SFUTR and SIP program.

Essential Duties

The duties specified below are representative of the range of duties assigned to the job code/class and are not intended to be an inclusive or exhaustive list.

As the Supervisor you will:

● SFUTR: Program Leadership

o Design, facilitate, and provide ongoing support for the professional learning of all SFUSD mentors

o Lead/participate in partnership work with university, district, residency and other partners, and cross residency meetings.

o Lead, co-lead, and support the leadership of cross-residency meetings and meetings with other internal pipeline programs.

o Update and align tools from various programs in accordance with current district priorities

o Ensure measurable mentor and resident recruitment targets aligned to district human capital needs and goals.

o Plan events, visits and/or information sessions for prospective mentors and residents.

o Work with partners to recruit, vet and select new mentors and to match with residents in ways that honor critical identities and skills.

o Work with partners to plan and implement professional collaborations and opportunities for mentors and residents.

o Track and manage pre-service-specific milestones and requirements in coordination with the universities including test prep and coordination of the individualized learning plan

o Track and manage induction-specific milestones and requirements in coordination with district and induction program partners

o Build and maintain strong relationships with school sites at which residents are placed or hired

o Participate in all district and dept meetings as required (needed)

o Design, refine and develop team to develop ownership of anti racist, equity driven coaching model

o Lead Team Development- Design/Facilitate biweekly team meetings and evaluate TSA’s

o Manage Resident Recruitment:

● Partner with SFUSD recruitment

● Partner & Collaborate with University recruitment (efforts and) events

● SFUTR: Mentor and Resident Support; Educational Partnerships

o Facilitate SFUTR team meetings and professional development with IHE’s and internal district partners

o Provide differentiated and just-in-time support to all Mentors and Resident teams via classroom visits, coaching/feedback sessions, and meta-mentoring for the Mentors/Cooperating Teachers (CTs) and/or support the TSAs to provide feedback, collect data, and support strong mentoring relationships.

o Ensure ongoing updates and communication to all resident community members, including specific dates, events, etc. with IHE partners.

● SFUTR: Equity and Affinity Leadership

o Support all members of the residency community to be accountable to themselves and others in service of commitments to anti-racism and equity, including affinity group(s) for mentors and residents.

● SFUTR: Operations Management

o Manage residency budget and resources to ensure effective and sustainable allocation.

o Support job search and hiring processes for year 1+ residents

o Manage SFUTR and Residency Budgets, including stipends.

o Manage data collection for CTC grant reporting

o Oversee (Manage) resident and cooperating teacher stipends

SIP: Program Leadership

● Plan, monitor, evaluate and modify the SFUSD Induction, New teacher support Program(for interns and teachers with permits in SFUSD.

● Identifies solutions involving policy changes, develops strategic plans for on-going and emerging programs and resources; ensures that programs and/or curricula are designed to achieve District goals (Vision, Values, Goals and Guardrails, including the annual student achievement goals.

o Supervises the development of individual teacher and mentor dashboards, customized Principal Portals and other systemic communication structures

SIP: Operations Management

o Develop, implement, and maintain policies and procedures, administrative monitoring practices and controls to ensure the smooth and effective operation of the SFUSD Induction Program and other new teacher support (for teachers with intern and emergency permits)

o Coordinates work activities of these programs to align centralized and site based professional development for new teachers and implements program goals, objectives and priorities aligned with district goals and the California Standards for Teacher Induction.

o Establishes and maintains communication structures with local Institutes of HIgher education personnel and site and central leaders to match interns to mentors.

● Monitors and evaluates the efficacy and efficiency of the SFUSD Induction and other new teacher support service delivery system, organizational structure, staffing levels , and other internal operations support mentor matching and site placement

● Represents SFUSD at local, regional and statewide Induction Directors meetings and conferences.

● Presents effective teacher induction programs and support strategies and innovative tools at local and national conferences.

● Interprets and administers Board of Education and District policies and administrative regulations related to teacher credentialing and new teacher support and retention.

● Recruits, selects, trains and supervises team members.

● Distributes annual strategic expectations and performance expectations, goals and standards per contract agreements

● Aligns and monitors budgetary, human and materials resources towards District goals and ensures resources are utilized efficiently and ethically.

● Other related duties as assigned

The strongest candidates will have:

● Teacher residency program leadership or implementation experience

● Knowledge of or experience implementing programs and interpreting data related to program outcomes

● Knowledge of or experience managing relationships with multiple external partners

● Strategic leadership and management experience in a K-12 urban public educational setting

● Three years of successful administrative experience in an academic and/or central office setting, preferably in a large public, urban school district

● Successful experience coaching new teachers to complete teacher induction programs and supporting mentors to guide new teachers to do so.

● Knowledge of San Francisco’s public schools/urban public schools and a passionate belief in SFUSD’s commitment to instructional leadership as a lever toward delivering on the SFUSD Graduate Profile

● Strong analytics and systems thinking necessary to interpret data to inform goals and strategy, as well as build infrastructure where none exists

● Ability to work effectively across multiple functions and roles within a complex organization

● A proven record of effectively planning, organizing and using resources to take action and achieve goals

● The ability to learn quickly and adapt as needed in a fast-paced environment

● Outstanding organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail

● A flexible, “can do” work ethic with a focus on identifying challenges and proactively working to find solutions while maintaining a bigger picture lens and focus on what can be delivered instead of what cannot be done

● Excellent data analysis skills and experience synthesizing data to drive action steps

● Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build effective working relationships with senior level district staff and colleagues

● Effective written and verbal communication and the ability to clearly communicate complex, bureaucratic processes to a variety of audiences

● Ability to define and implement effective HR business practices

● Ability to work effectively in difficult situations that involve confidential and sensitive matters

● Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and GSuite (Google Docs, Slides, Sheets, Forms)

Minimum Qualifications

· Valid Administrative Services Credential

· Three (3) years of school site or central office administrator or management professional experience
