Summary
George Washington High School is seeking a dedicated and passionate Special Education Mild/Moderate Teacher for the 2025-2026 school year. The ideal candidate will possess a strong commitment to fostering an inclusive learning environment that supports the diverse needs of students with mild to moderate disabilities. This full-time position requires collaboration with general education teachers, parents, and support staff to ensure that all students receive the individualized instruction and support necessary to thrive academically and socially.

Responsibilities
- Develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) for students with mild to moderate disabilities, ensuring alignment with state and federal regulations.
- Collaborate with general education teachers to adapt curriculum and instructional strategies to meet the diverse needs of students.
- Provide direct instruction in academic and functional skills, utilizing evidence-based practices to enhance student learning.
- Assess and monitor student progress, adjusting instruction as needed to ensure student success.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student performance and IEP documentation.
- Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress, behavior, and any concerns that may arise.
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to discuss student needs, progress, and potential interventions.
- Create a positive and supportive classroom environment that encourages student engagement and social-emotional growth.
- Stay current with best practices in special education and participate in ongoing professional development opportunities.
- Foster a culture of respect and inclusion within the school community.

Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Special Education or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
- Valid state teaching credential in Special Education, with endorsement in Mild/Moderate disabilities.
- Experience working with students with mild to moderate disabilities preferred.
- Strong understanding of IEP development and implementation, as well as state and federal special education laws.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with a diverse group of stakeholders.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple responsibilities effectively.
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment for all students.
- Proficiency in using technology for instruction and communication.
