Summary
We are seeking a reliable and flexible individual to fill the role of a Substitute Bus Driver at our Bus Garage. This position is essential in ensuring safe and efficient transportation for students and other passengers. The ideal candidate will be committed to providing excellent service and maintaining a positive environment while adhering to all safety regulations and policies.

Responsibilities
- Operate a school bus or transit vehicle safely and efficiently, following established routes and schedules.
- Transport students and passengers to and from designated locations, ensuring timely arrivals and departures.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure the vehicle is in good working condition.
- Maintain a clean and organized bus, ensuring a safe and pleasant environment for passengers.
- Assist students in boarding and exiting the bus, ensuring their safety at all times.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch and school personnel regarding route changes, delays, or any issues that arise during transit.
- Follow all local, state, and federal regulations regarding transportation safety and vehicle operation.
- Respond to emergencies and provide first aid as necessary, following established emergency procedures.
- Attend training sessions and meetings as required to stay updated on policies and safety procedures.

Requirements
- Valid Michigan driver's license.

- Valid Commercial Drivers License Class B (CDL) with appropriate endorsements for operating a bus is a plus.
- Clean driving record with no major violations or accidents.
- Previous experience driving a bus or similar vehicle is preferred but not required.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with students, parents, and staff.
- Ability to remain calm and composed in stressful situations and respond appropriately to emergencies.
- Flexibility to work on short notice and adapt to varying schedules and routes.
- Commitment to safety and a strong understanding of traffic laws and regulations.
- Ability to pass a background check and drug screening as required by law.
