Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate individual to support students with special needs at Perry Co Central High School. The ideal candidate will work closely with teachers, staff, and families to create a positive and inclusive learning environment. This role involves assisting students in their educational and personal development, ensuring they have access to the resources and support they need to succeed.

Responsibilities
- Assist teachers in implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with special needs.
- Provide one-on-one or small group support to students in academic and social settings.
- Help students with daily living skills, including personal hygiene, mobility, and organization.
- Monitor and document student progress, behavior, and development.
- Facilitate communication between students, teachers, and parents to ensure a collaborative approach to education.
- Support students during transitions between classes, lunch, and other activities.
- Assist in the preparation of instructional materials and classroom activities.
- Implement behavioral management strategies as directed by the teacher or special education staff.
- Attend training sessions and professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge.
- Maintain a safe and supportive classroom environment conducive to learning.

Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or certification in special education is preferred.
- Previous experience working with students with disabilities or in a school setting is highly desirable.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with students, staff, and families.
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine desire to help students succeed.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
- Basic computer skills for documentation and communication purposes.
- Understanding of child development and special education principles is a plus.
- Must pass background checks and meet any other state or district requirements for employment.
