JOB TITLE: WBL Placement Specialist for LEA and MCVA

CLASSIFICATION: Professional

REPORTS TO: Career and College Readiness Program Director

TERMS:
This position is a 205 total paid days position offering full family medical, dental, and vision benefits. Dental, vision, and life insurance are paid by the district at no cost to the employee. Personal business days and sick time paid. Retirement through the Office of Retirement Services (Pension Plus or Defined Contribution).

SALARY RANGE:
This position is on the School Year Professional Scale, $ 57400 - $87338.20 per year on the BA Scale. Lanes available for BA+20, MA, MA+30, and MA+60/PHD.

GENERAL JOB FUNCTION:

The Specialist will be responsible for researching, acquiring, evaluating and approving prospective workplace training stations and job sites for Muskegon County students, grades 9-12. This Specialist works to assist CCR leadership to implement best practices in schools to create greater postsecondary access for all Muskegon County Students.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Plan, implement and evaluate career education curriculum for students enrolled in both LEAs and MCVA.
Assist in effectively managing MAISD and local district efforts in creating a college and career ready culture.
Participate in appropriate professional development activities to maintain an optimal level of expertise for the position.
Provide Work-Based Learning content & expertise at meetings and/or training.
Maintain a thorough knowledge of resources related to employment and employment opportunities for students.
Acquires, evaluates and approves prospective workplace training stations and job sites.
Assists students in career planning and refers both to specific placement opportunities relevant to identified needs, interests and abilities; inclusive of Work Based Learning opportunities.
Executes all required placement procedures, documentation, forms, reports, and details pertinent to specific placements.
Monitors internship/externship and work-based placement, supervises and evaluates student performance.
Collaborate with MAISD staff, region/state education and community partners in regards to the needs of students and work-based learning.
Support scheduled events/marketing for Career and College Readiness (CCR) and Promise Zone public relations.
Other duties as assigned by supervisor or designee.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Possession of a Bachelor’s Degree and valid MI Teaching Certificate.

Ability to work independently or within a team in a fast paced environment.
Ability to organize short and long term duties and responsibilities; works with a wide variety of tasks that require good prioritization and organization.
Ability to manage a large number of students and multiple projects.
Ability to work with and demonstrate sensitivity to the needs of a diverse population.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Familiarity with K-12, higher education, Career and College Readiness (CCR) and Promise Zone (PZ) legislation and postsecondary access practices.
Strong interpersonal, organizational, oral and written communication skills.
Commitment to providing exceptional professional customer service.
Evidence of two or more years of successful experience as a work-based learning coordinator, placement coordinator, career counselor, teacher or similar.

EVALUATION:
Employees in this classification are evaluated according to current Board policy.

TRAVEL EXPECTATIONS:
Travel both within the county and throughout the state is required. Mileage will be paid based on the current State rate.
