TERMS:
This position is a 205 total paid days position offering full family medical, dental, and vision benefits. Dental, vision, and life insurance are paid by the district at no cost to the employee. Personal business days and sick time paid. Retirement through the Office of Retirement Services (Pension Plus or Defined Contribution).

SALARY RANGE:
This position is on the School Year Professional Staff Scale, $52785.18 - $82068.88 on the BA scale. Lanes for BA+20, MA, MA+30, and MA+60/PHD available.

 

General Job Function

Support Local Education Agencies and the organization by analyzing current data and coaching schools in the implementation of best practices in special education with a goal of increased outcomes for students with IEPs.

 

Essential Job Functions

1. Provide coaching to leadership and building- level teams

2. Conduct ongoing review and analysis of various data sources for use in coaching and instructional decision making

3. Support teams in the creation and implementation of clear, logical IEPs that produce strong results in student learning

4. Provide technical assistance as needed to assist with IDEA monitoring and compliance requirements.

5. Work collaboratively with district leadership to implement a vision and goals for evidence-based specially designed instruction

6. Contribute to the development of resources and materials for use in providing technical assistance and specially designed instruction

7.  Maintains confidentiality

8. Create a professional and collaborative environment that is one of mutual respect, teamwork, and accountability

9. Perform other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned

 

Minimum Qualifications

1. Master’s degree (M.A.) or higher in special education

2. Possession of a valid Michigan teaching certificate with special education approval or licensure as a related service provider (i.e. School Psychologist, Speech and Language Pathologist, School Social Worker)

3. Minimum of five (5) years professional experience, at least three (3) years in special education

4. Exhibit effective interpersonal skills that reflect respect for others and understanding of the importance of collegial interactions for promoting positive student outcomes

5. Demonstrated success teaching students with IEPs

6. Demonstrate understanding and success utilizing multiple assessment measures to improve teaching and learning

7. Knowledgeable about current research and pedagogical recommendations relevant to the coaching role

8. Communicate in a manner that inspires trust, communicates respect, and is nonjudgmental in nature

 

Preferred Qualifications

1. Working knowledge of the requirements of the Individuals with Disabilities Act (IDEA) and the Michigan Administrative Rules for Special Education (MARSE)

2. Knowledge of best practices in IEP development and implementation to maximize outcomes for students

3. Knowledge of current Michigan K-12 content standards and alternative standards for Mathematics and ELA and Knowledge of Essential Instructional Practices in Literacy and Mathematics

4. Demonstrated knowledge of adult learning theory and sound professional development

5. Specialized training focused on research-based and culturally-responsive practices
