POSITION: Instructional Assistant – Reading Interventionist

SALARY: Classified, Grade 4 Pay Scale

LENGTH: 186 days

JOB SUMMARY

Provide small-group reading intervention for students in grades six through eight using designated programs and instructional materials.

REQUISITE EDUCATION AND SKILLS

High school diploma or equivalent required.
Experience working with groups of children preferred.
Ability to support students across a range of academic ability levels.
Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and implement instructional and behavioral plans effectively.
Ability to assist teachers with instructional activities and classroom management.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to work collaboratively with students, parents, and staff.
Oral and written fluency in both English and Spanish preferred.

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES (including but not limited to):

Comply with all school laws, State Board of Education regulations, and division policies and procedures.
Support the efficient and effective operation of the school as directed by the School Board, Superintendent, or designee.
Collaborate with the Reading Specialist to carry out instructional plans.
Provide academic instruction and intervention to individuals and small groups under the direction of the Reading Specialist.
Administer assessments to monitor student progress toward instructional goals.
Share student achievement data and observations with the Reading Specialist and classroom teacher.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date student records.
Assist in the preparation and organization of instructional materials and resources.
Support positive classroom behavior and student engagement.
Assist students individually and in small groups with instructional tasks and assignments.
Attend required in-service trainings, workshops, and staff meetings.
Perform other duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Must be able to effectively communicate and interact with others in person and by phone. Requires the ability to see, read, talk, hear, handle, or feel objects and controls. Must be able to operate standard office equipment, including but not limited to a computer, calculator, copier, and fax machine. Physical activity may include climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, and repetitive motions.
