Salary Schedule/Grade: 210-Day Licensed Instructional Pay Scale

FLSA Status: Exempt

JOB SUMMARY: The Middle School Activities and Athletics Coordinator is responsible for organizing, overseeing, and managing all extracurricular activities and athletic programs for middle school students. This role ensures a diverse range of opportunities that promote a positive school environment, student engagement, teamwork, leadership, and physical well-being while aligning with the school's mission and policies.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor’s degree required, master’s degree preferred.
Valid Postgraduate Professional License from the Virginia Department of Education required; endorsement in Administration and Supervision PreK-12 preferred.
Experience working with middle school students in an educational or athletic setting.
Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
Knowledge of athletic policies and procedures, including safety regulations.
Exceptional communication and interpersonal abilities.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (including but not limited to):

Develop, coordinate, and supervise extracurricular activities, including clubs, student organizations, and special events.
Manage and oversee the middle school athletics program, including scheduling practices, games, and tournaments.
Recruit, train, and evaluate coaches and activity sponsors.
Ensure compliance with school, district, and state athletic regulations and guidelines.
Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and parents to promote student involvement in extracurricular activities.
Maintain and oversee budgets, equipment, and facilities related to athletics and activities.
Organize transportation logistics for athletic events and extracurricular activities.
Foster a positive and inclusive environment that supports student growth and development.
Communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff regarding schedules, expectations, and program updates.
Coordinate with High School Athletic Director to align secondary campus athletics/activities, facilities usage and procedures.
Evaluate program effectiveness and implement improvements as needed.
May be assigned to teach up to two instructional periods per day in licensed content area.
Other duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

The position requires the ability to:

Communicate effectively through phone and in-person interactions.
Operate office equipment including computers, copiers, calculators, etc.
Perform physical activities such as climbing, standing, walking, lifting, reaching, and bending.

EMPLOYMENT CONDITIONS

Must pass a Criminal Justice fingerprint/background check.
Must complete a tuberculosis screening.
