Job Summary

Position is responsible for coaching student athletes in sideline cheerleader techniques to prepare them for events. Position motivates student athletes to develop an appreciation of the sport.

Essential Duties

Works with cheerleaders during practices and events.
Assesses skills and assigns team positions.
Develops a regular practice schedule and organizes practice time to provide team development.
Works with the athletics director in scheduling facilities for practices.
Coaches and instructs cheerleaders, individually or in groups, regarding the rules, regulations,

equipment, and techniques of the sport.

Observes cheerleaders, during events and practice to determine the needs for individual or team improvement.
Establishes and maintains standards of pupil behavior and provides proper supervision of students at all times.
Follows established procedures in the event of an injury.
Follows state, regional, and district regulations governing the program.
Models good sportsmanship behavior and maintains appropriate conduct towards cheerleaders, officials, and spectators.
Participates in special activities that may include parent’s night, banquets, award nights, and pep assemblies.

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills and/or Abilities Required)

Some experience as a sideline or competitive cheerleader coach preferred.
Must possess effective coaching techniques and skills.
Must possess the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with school administrators, parents, and students.
Must complete and pass a full criminal background check.
Must be CPR/AED trained; if not must be willing to complete training prior to season
Must complete/meet all requirements of the employee hiring process. This is an EDUStaff position, unless you are a Manchester Community School employee.
