Harrison Elementary School is seeking a dedicated and innovative Library Media Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in fostering a love for reading and learning among students while promoting the effective use of technology and media resources. This full-time position requires a passionate individual who can create an engaging library environment that supports the school's educational goals and enhances student achievement. Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a dynamic library program that supports the curriculum and promotes literacy across all grade levels.
- Collaborate with teachers to integrate library resources and technology into classroom instruction.
- Curate and maintain a diverse and up-to-date collection of books, digital resources, and multimedia materials that reflect the interests and needs of the student population.
- Provide instruction and guidance to students on research skills, information literacy, and the effective use of technology.
- Organize and facilitate library events, such as book fairs, author visits, and reading challenges, to encourage student engagement.
- Manage the library’s budget, ensuring the acquisition of materials and resources aligns with the school’s goals and objectives.
- Assist in the development and implementation of technology initiatives that enhance learning and promote digital citizenship among students.
- Conduct regular assessments of library services and resources to evaluate their effectiveness and make improvements as needed.
- Serve as a resource for teachers and staff on best practices in media literacy and technology integration.
- Stay current with trends in library science, education technology, and children's literature through professional development and networking.

Requirements
- Master’s degree in Library Science, Library Media, or a related field from an accredited institution.
- Valid state certification or licensure as a school library media specialist.
- Previous experience working in a school library or educational setting preferred.
- Strong knowledge of library management systems, digital resources, and educational technology tools.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to connect with students, staff, and the community.
- Demonstrated ability to create a welcoming and inclusive library environment that caters to diverse student needs.
- Passion for promoting literacy, learning, and a love for reading among elementary school students.
