POSITION: SEL COORDINATOR/MTSS FACILITATOR (SECONDARY)

SUMMARY:

Responsible for developing, leading, implementing, monitoring, and collaborating with secondary school leaders, faculty, and staff in the districtwide integration of MTSS. Provide system frameworks, coaching, and continuous improvement support to building level administrators, general education teachers and Student Support Services staff for students with academic and behavioral challenges in the area of professional development, programming, and resources that lead to increased student success outcomes.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Consistently promotes fairness, respect, and different viewpoints in all responsibilities
Oversee district-wide SEL Implementation and monitoring:
Provide and monitor programming aligned with the Michigan State Standards, District, Schools, and Grant specific goals and objectives.
Lead the school climate/culture priority goal area in the Strategic Plan
Creates and works collaboratively with other departments for the integration of district wide social and emotional learning education aligned with the district’s Strategic Plan and Portrait of a Graduate
Lead the collection, analysis, and reporting of SEL program data, including assessment of SEL goals and outcomes across the district. Use data to inform adjustments to SEL programming and professional learning.
Provides guidance on designing social emotional learning integration into the school
Assesses and verifies short-term and long-term goals of the SEL program based on data
Create professional learning opportunities and support staff in planning and delivering district approved evidenced based SEL curriculum
Meet and maintain program objectives through maintenance of appropriate program data and reports.
Meet regularly and work collaboratively with administration and staff to address social emotional needs of students
Plan, deliver and track SEL services and communications with parents/guardians/community and provide workshops and linkages to additional resources as needed.
Oversee Secondary MTSS Implementation and Monitoring
Collaborate closely with the MTSS Coordinator and Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction
Collaborate with district leadership, School Leadership Teams (SLTs), curriculum leaders, and staff to develop and consistently maintain aligned school-wide expectations, systems, and structure that ensure a positive school climate for all members of the community
Oversee and support MTSS implementation and maintenance at the secondary school level
Support the facilitation of the district’s work with the MiMTSS TAC
Collaborate in maintaining sustainable MTSS infrastructure at secondary level
Assist in the development and monitoring of effective innovations
Coordinate with Secondary Professional School Counselors, support staff, teachers and administration in developing and maintaining a sustainable MTSS infrastructure
Foster a safe and supportive academic and social environment that supports individualized growth and achievement of all learners
Work with Curriculum Leaders to vertically and horizontally align curriculum, assessment, instruction, interventions, and data collection/analysis
Provide curriculum and instructional professional learning and support to secondary teachers around effective teaching strategies for differentiated core instruction and intervention
Assist in planning and monitoring the fidelity of school-wide Tier 1 aligned to academic and behavior systems in place to promote a positive school culture
Collaborate with staff to implement, progress monitor, and adjust Tier 2 and 3 targeted supports at the secondary level
Coach teachers on analyzing student data and identifying research- based supports across academics, behavior, and social-emotional learning (SEL)
Confer with students, families, and staff regarding student needs and student related policies
Report to MTSS Coordinator the effectiveness of secondary interventions on a regular basis to improve school systems
Provide observational feedback, modeling, data analysis and other supportive assistance necessary to implement a Multi-Tiered System of Supports
Performs other duties as assigned by an appropriate administrator or their representative.
Participate in professional development.
Comply with all district, agency, school/site and program policies and procedures.

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Psychology OR Mental Health/ School Counseling. Master's level preferred.
Experience with implementing and overseeing an MTSS Framework at a secondary level
Minimum 5 years’ experience working with school age children, preferably in a diverse educational setting.
Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
Applicants must satisfactorily pass a criminal background check as defined by the State of Michigan.

TECHNICAL SKILLS:

The ability to integrate technology into the everyday work flow is necessary.
Ability to utilize District technology and work to maintain proficiency, as required skill sets change with technology and/or the needs of the District.
Ability to use computer technology for research, data management, communications and other instruction.
Ability to use a personal computer (PC) or MAC in a networked environment to utilize the Internet and other electronic communications mechanisms.
Knowledge of productivity applications such as Microsoft Office (word processing, spreadsheets, database and presentation software) is required.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to apply the concepts of basic math, algebra and geometry consistent with the duties of this position.

The noise level in the work environment is quiet to loud depending upon the activity in the particular part of the day. TERMS:

The contract, salary and other employment conditions will be established by the Board of Education in conjunction with the Lincoln Consolidated Schools and the Washtenaw County Education Association/MEA/NEA collective bargaining agreement. Further, the applicant must agree to fully participate in all relevant training inclusive of or unique to the building assigned and the District.
