POSITION TITLE: Teacher, High School Entrepreneurship Business Marketing College Career Academy

PRIMARY FUNCTION: The CTAE Business/Marketing Teacher instructs the student in academic and technical content to provide students with the skills and knowledge necessary to enter an occupation. The CTAE Business/Marketing teacher is responsible for the following items to further the educational mission of the school:

REQUIREMENTS:
1. Educational Level: Associate degree or higher in a business/marketing related field required or the equivalent industry certificates.
2. Certification/License Required: Must hold a valid teaching Certification or meet qualifications to apply for the certificate (505-2-.90) with the Georgia Professional Standards Commission and meet any one of the five options: (Options 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5) as outlined in GaPSC.
3. Experience: Minimum of two years of occupational work experience in the business/marketing field.
4. Physical Activities: Routine physical activities that are required to fulfill job responsibilities.
5. Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities: Written and oral communication; instructional strategies that connect the curriculum to the learners, student management, and excellent organizational skills.

The Board of Education and the Superintendent may accept alternatives to some of the above requirements.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

Observe and evaluate students’ performance, behavior, social development and physical health
Prepare materials and classroom for instruction and class activities
Maintain accurate and complete student records as required by law, school policy and administrative regulation.
Establish and enforce rules for behavior and procedures for maintaining order among students.
Instruct and monitor students in the use and care of equipment and materials to prevent injury and damage.
Instruct students individually and in groups, using various teaching methods, such as lectures, discussions, and demonstrations.
Establish clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects and communicate those objectives to students.
Instruct students in the knowledge and skills required in a specific occupation or occupational field, using a systematic plan of lectures, discussions, audio-visual presentations, and laboratory, shop and field studies.
Prepare, administer, and grade tests and assignments to evaluate students' progress.
Assign and grade class work and homework.
Confer with parents or guardians, other teachers, counselors, and administrators to resolve students' behavioral and academic problems.
Enforce all administration policies and rules governing students.
Meet with parents and guardians to discuss their children's progress and to determine priorities for their children and their resource needs.
Plan and supervise class projects, field trips, visits by guest speakers or other experiential activities, and guide students in learning from those activities.
Prepare objectives and outlines for courses of study, following curriculum guidelines or requirements of states and schools.
Maintain an up-to-date Program of Work (POW) that reflects program goals, community/business involvement, career-related activities, and alignment with state CTAE expectations.
Serve as the advisor for (FBLA), coordinating student membership, competition participation, and chapter activities in accordance with state and national guidelines.
Organize and supervise student participation in career and technical student organization (CTSO) events, including leadership conferences, community service projects, and competitions.
Collaborate with local industry partners to maintain an active advisory board, provide work-based learning opportunities, and facilitate guest speakers.
Support initiatives related to college and career readiness.
Attend professional meetings, educational conferences, and teacher training workshops to maintain and improve professional competence.
Sponsor extracurricular activities such as clubs, student organizations, and academic contests.
Attend staff meetings and serve on committees, as required.
Collaborate with other teachers and administrators in the development, evaluation, and revision of secondary school programs for the benefit of the student.
