GACS has an opening for an Associate Teacher for the Great Start Readiness Program at KI Sawyer Elementary School beginning with the start of the 2025-26 school year.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Minimum Qualifications:

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, abilities and minimum qualifications necessary to perform the essential functions of the position.

· Educational requirements include: associate degree (AA) in early childhood education or child development or the equivalent; or valid Center-Based Preschool (CDA) credential; or completion of AA or CDA within 3 years of hire.

· Six months of experience in a classroom setting, or the equivalent, is required.

· Ability to obtain First Aid and CPR certification is required.

· Basic knowledge of early childhood development, and the ability to follow related practices and techniques of fostering social, cognitive, motor, and emotional development.

· Basic knowledge of the practices used in maintaining a clean and sanitary classroom environment, and in the safe handling of food.

· Skill in effectively communicating ideas and concepts.

· Skill in leading classroom activities and in managing the classroom.

· Skill in observing and documenting student behaviors and performance.

· Ability to follow and implement individual work plans to achieve developmental goals.

· Ability to establish effective working relationships and use good judgement, initiative and resourcefulness when dealing with students, parents, and other employees.

Wage/Benefits

· Wage range of $18.75-$20.75 commensurate with experience, education, skills and credentials

· 7.5 hours/day with 30-minute duty free lunch; start and end times dependent on daily assignment

· Work schedule based on district calendar (180 student days plus any required professional development or program needs)

· Paid medical, dental and vision insurance up to the state of Michigan cap (or cash in lieu of $4,200 if not taking medical)

· 8 paid holidays during the school year

· 2 personal & 11 sick days per school year

· FLSA status: non-exempt, non-bargaining

· MI Tri-Share program for day care cost sharing
