Job Summary
Grapeland High School is seeking a passionate and dedicated Plant Science Teacher to join our faculty on a full-time basis. The ideal candidate will inspire students to explore the fascinating world of plant biology, ecology, and agricultural sciences. The teacher will create an engaging learning environment that fosters curiosity, critical thinking, and hands-on experiences in plant science. Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a comprehensive curriculum in plant science that aligns with state standards and educational goals.
- Create engaging lesson plans that incorporate hands-on activities, experiments, and field studies.
- Assess and evaluate student performance through various methods, including tests, projects, and presentations.
- Foster a positive classroom environment that encourages student participation and collaboration.
- Provide support and guidance to students in their academic and personal growth.
- Organize and supervise field trips, laboratory work, and other experiential learning opportunities.
- Collaborate with other science teachers and staff to integrate plant science concepts across the curriculum.
- Stay current with advancements in plant science and agricultural practices to enhance teaching effectiveness.
- Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress and classroom activities.
- Participate in professional development opportunities and contribute to the school community.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Plant Science, Biology, Environmental Science, or a related field.
- Valid teaching certification in the state of Texas (or the ability to obtain one).
- Previous teaching experience, preferably in high school science education.
- Strong knowledge of plant biology, ecology, and agricultural practices.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to create an inclusive and engaging classroom environment.
- Proficient in using technology and digital resources for teaching and learning.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development and staying current with educational trends.
