JOB SUMMARY

Under direction of the Early Childhood Coordinators and the site based Early Childhood Intervention Specialist, the Prekindergarten Associate will deliver the prescribed general education curriculum to children in the classroom through direct instruction and co-instruction.

QUALIFICATIONS

Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education from an accredited college or university required.

Ohio State Board of Education License for Prekindergarten Associate required.

Previous experience working with children age 3-5 in an inclusive program preferred.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

• Knowledge of the Ohio Department of Children and Youth Early Learning and Development Standards.

• Ability to recognize and react appropriately to individual needs of students

• Ability to deal calmly and effectively with student behavior problems; Ability to react quickly to student behavior (e.g. run, get out of seat quickly)

• Ability to establish effective relationships with students with a wide range of physical and intellectual capabilities

• Ability to use technology as both a productivity tool and as a method of communication; proficient in computer applications (e.g. Microsoft Office, Google Docs)

• Ability to maintain accurate student records

• Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing

• Ability to maintain confidentiality and comply with FERPA requirements

• Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with students, co-workers, administrators, and public

• Ability to work with team to analyze, synthesize, and evaluate program progress and implement changes

• Ability to model ethical principles and democratic ideals for students and the community
