The position of an Assistant Principal will be available at East Central ISD for the 2025-2026 school year.  All individuals (district employees included) who are interested in this position must apply online through Frontline via the district website. The deadline for submitting an application is 4:00 pm., April 27, 2025, or until the position is filled.

PRIMARY PURPOSE:  For the founding year, this role combines the responsibilities of several campus leadership positions, with a transition into a more focused Administrator role in the following year as the school opens at full capacity. Valor College and Career Preparatory Academy is dedicated to creating a school that is powered by people, strengthened by systems, and driven by results.  As a founding team member, you will help shape our school’s foundation, fostering a culture of collaboration and high expectations. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  1. Assist the school principal in the overall administration of instructional program and campus level operations; coordinate assigned student activities and services. 
  2. Ensure that school rules are uniformly observed and that student discipline is appropriate and equitable in accordance with the student Code of Conduct and the student handbook. 
  3. Communicate and promote high expectations for staff and student performance.
  4. Supervise students on campus, before school and after school, and at lunch.
  5. Participate in the development of campus improvement plans with staff, parents, and community members.
  6. Observe employee performance, record observations, and conduct evaluation conferences.
  7. Assist the principal in interviewing, selecting, and orienting new staff.
  8. Supervise operations in the principal’s absence.
  9. Help plan daily school activities by participating in the development of class schedules, teacher assignments, duty schedules, and extracurricular activity schedules.
  10. Supervise reporting and monitoring of student attendance and work with the attendance clerk on follow-up investigations. 
  11. Assist with safety inspections and safety drill practice activities. 
  12. Ensure that students are adequately supervised during non-instructional periods.
  13. Help to develop a student discipline management system that results in positive student behavior. 
  14. Conduct conferences on student and school issues with parents, students, and teachers.
  15. Articulate the school’s mission to the community and solicit its support in realizing the mission.
  16. 504 Coordinator.
  17. MTSS facilitator (campus/district).
  18. Bilingual/TELPAS (LPAC) coordinator.
  19. Facilitate GT testing process and paperwork.
  20. Accelerated Instruction coordinator.
  21. Owner of Tier I & II behavior.
  22. Campus testing coordinator.
  23. Responsible for the registration of students.
  24. Provide assistance in execution of curriculum.
  25. Assist with coordination of new teacher induction training and campus staff development.
  26. Supervise academic extracurricular activities.
  27. Adhere to the district safety policies and procedures.
  28. Must be able to perform the essential functions of walking and interacting with students and/or district employees in the specific worksite assigned (classroom or office setting).
  29. Perform other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Certification:
Master’s degree
Texas Principal’s certificate or the other appropriate Texas certificate
Certified Professional Development and Appraisal System (PDAS) appraiser
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Prior teaching and administrative experience 
Strong communication skills, both oral and written
East Central experience preferred

EQUIPMENT USED:  Standard office equipment including personal computer and peripherals

WORKING CONDITIONS:  Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors: Maintain emotional control under stress; work with frequent interruptions.   Protracted and irregular hours of work; prolonged walking, sitting, standing.  Occasional light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds); occasional physical restraint of students to control behavior.  May work prolonged or irregular hours; work inside and outside (exposure to sun, heat, cold, and inclement weather, exposure to noise; occasional districtwide and statewide travel.
