The position of a Middle School Principal will be available immediately at Legacy Middle School for the 2025-2026 school year. Primary Purpose: Direct and manage overall campus operations. Responsible for leadership of the campus instructional program ensuring high standards of instruction and student achievement, compliance with district policies, application of instructional programs, and effective operation of all campus activities.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

Develop and Lead High Performing Teams (LECW: Build Relationships/Impact Focused)

Lead, implement and monitor Professional Learning Communities that create a positive, effective team culture of open sharing, risk taking and shared leadership
Effectively build and organize teams to mirror vision.
Foster a collaborative, accountable work environment where faculty are encouraged to innovate, reflect and continuously improve their practice to produce maximum results.

Develop, maintain, and use information systems and records necessary to show campus progress on performance objectives addressing each Academic Excellence Indicator.
Disaggregation and interpretation of campus and teacher data in order to assist in developing appropriate next steps.
Identify data informed actions and skills necessary to support teachers in analyzing data and developing action plans to improve teaching and learning.
Support teachers in analyzing data and developing action plans to improve teaching and learning.
Create a sense of urgency and take immediate action to ensure early successes.
Consistently identify potential obstacles and proactively take action to create and implement solutions.

Establish, monitor and uphold high performance expectations for all.
Observe instruction and provide impactful feedback to teachers to enhance instructional practices and student engagement, recognizing growth as an ongoing, cyclical process.
Monitor instructional processes and resources to recognize patterns and trends related to school performance and develop action plans accordingly.
Support teachers in implementation of district initiatives.
Oversee curriculum implementation to ensure rigor, relevance, and alignment with state standards, ensuring highly effective teaching practices are utilized.

Effective Feedback (LECW: Build Relationships, Effective Communicator, Continuous Growth)

Observe and evaluate teachers with regular classroom visits and provide timely formative and summative feedback to individuals.
Recognize instructional trends in classroom observations and walk-throughs and provide feedback with action plans to drive continuous improvement aligned to goals.
Ensure all stakeholders understand and can articulate that data-driven decision-making is used to identify trends in student achievement and create action plans that address performance gaps and improve student outcomes.
Make and enforce difficult decisions.
Engage families in the school’s transformation process by facilitating open communication, providing regular updates, and inviting feedback.

Human Resources (LECW: Actualizes Compelling Vision)

Select, train, supervise, and evaluate staff and make recommendations relative to assignment, retention, discipline, dismissal. Approve all personnel assigned to campus.
Utilize skills, resources, motivators , and fidelity to achieve optimal implementation of vision.
Lead transformational change and drive school improvement initiatives.

Communicate effectively to convey the school’s mission, goals and achievements.

Plan daily school activities by leading the development of class schedules, teacher assignments, and extracurricular activity schedules.
Supervise reporting and monitoring of student assessment, grading and attendance.
Ensure efficient and appropriate allocation of resources to achieve goals with fidelity.
Follow district safety protocols and emergency operations.
Comply with federal and state laws, State Board of Education rules, and board policy.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education/Certification:
Master’s degree in Educational Leadership
Current Texas Principal certificate

Experience:
Minimum of three years experience serving as a campus principal
Proven success leading and turning around chronically low-achieving schools

Special Knowledge/Skills:
Strategic planning
Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills (written and oral)
Transformational leadership, management, and collaborative problem-solving ability
Expertise in instructional coaching
Working knowledge of data information systems, data analysis, and the formulation of action plans
Ability to use qualitative and quantitative data to make decisions about teaching and learning
Ability to differentiate instructional support for experienced and new teachers
Thorough knowledge of current teaching methods, educational pedagogy, differentiated instruction and learning styles
Bilingual fluency (English/Spanish) preferred
Experience with diverse population
