General Summary

 

In accordance with the established policies and procedures of the East Lansing Public School District, Freshman Baseball Coach is responsible for overseeing the organization, implementation, and evaluation of the high school interscholastic baseball program.

 

About the Role


  1. Supervises all matters relative to Baseball.
  2. Schedules practice sessions according to facility and equipment requirements.
  3. Arranges for necessary transportation.
  4. Governs player conduct and follows established rules.
  5. Supervises, in cooperation with assistants, all practices, games and tournaments.
  6. Supervises and coordinates assistant coaches as to their duties and responsibilities.
  7. Holds responsibility for the use, care and inventory of all equipment used (including uniforms).
  8. Follows Athletic Department policies regarding student athlete eligibility.
  9. Submits to Athletic Office post season results and award winners.
  10. Attends all meetings required by the Michigan High School Athletic Association and C.A.A.C..
  11. Abides by the rules and regulations established by the Michigan High School Athletic Association and enforces the East Lansing athletic code.
  12. Reports all injuries to the Athletic Trainer or Activities/Athletic Director and be sure proper medical treatment has been received.
  13. Reports contest results to Athletic Office.
  14. Holds responsibility for teaching all athletes the skills and techniques which are unique to Baseball.
  15. Holds responsibility for teaching all athletes proper respect for other coaches, teams and officials’ decisions.
  16. Prepares athletes for later life by instilling physical, mental, emotional, social and moral values.

 

Education, Knowledge and Skills Required

 

  1. Knowledge of the rules and rule changes in Baseball required.
  2. High school coaching experience required.
  3. Baseball philosophy, Baseball strategy, drills, bio mechanics and first aid skills are required.
  4. Prefer B.A. degree.
  5. Teaching and motivational skills are necessary.
