Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate individual to join our team at Milton Avenue School as a Paraprofessional for the 2025-2026 School Year. This full-time position is essential in supporting the educational and developmental needs of students, particularly those with special needs. The ideal candidate will work closely with teachers and staff to create a positive learning environment, ensuring that all students have the opportunity to succeed academically, socially, and emotionally.

Responsibilities

Assist teachers in implementing lesson plans and instructional activities for students.
Provide one-on-one support to students with special needs, helping them to engage in classroom activities and complete assignments.
Monitor student progress and behavior, providing feedback to teachers and parents as necessary.
Help maintain a safe and organized classroom environment.
Support students during transitions between classes and during lunch and recess.
Collaborate with teachers and other staff members to develop and adapt instructional materials and strategies.
Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge related to special education and classroom support.
Assist with administrative tasks, such as preparing materials and maintaining student records.
Foster positive relationships with students, promoting their social and emotional well-being.
Implement behavioral intervention plans as directed by teachers and special education staff.

Requirements

Substitute Credential or Teaching Certificate
Experience working with children, particularly in an educational or special education setting.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students, teachers, and parents.
Patience, empathy, and a genuine desire to support student learning and development.
Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and take direction from teachers and administrators.
Basic knowledge of educational practices and special education laws is a plus.
Proficiency in using technology and educational software.
Ability to pass background checks and meet any state-specific certification or training requirements.

Salary: $28,464.80
