Summary
Chatham High School is seeking a dedicated and passionate College & Career Counselor to join our team in a full-time, tenure-track position, to support our high school students in planning their post-secondary pathways. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in helping students explore college, career, and vocational opportunities, while guiding them through application processes and long-term planning. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a commitment to student success, possess strong interpersonal skills, and be able to work collaboratively with students, families, and faculty.

Responsibilities

Provide one-on-one and group counseling sessions to support students' college and career planning.
Guide students through the college application, financial aid, and scholarship processes.
Organize and facilitate college visits, career fairs, and guest speaker events.
Collaborate with teachers, school counselors, and administrators to support academic planning and testing administration including NJSLA, NJGPA, SAT, ACT, and AP exams.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of college admissions trends, testing requirements, and career opportunities.
Build relationships with college admissions representatives and local industry partners.
Facilitate select evening presentations on the college admissions process and post-secondary pathways for families.
Maintain and keep up to date the College and Career Counseling website.
Track and report post-secondary plans and outcomes for students.

Requirements

Master’s degree in School Counseling required.
Valid New Jersey School Counselor Certification.
Minimum 2 years of experience in a high school counseling or college advising setting preferred but not required.
Strong interpersonal skills and a passion for mentoring and empowering students.
Familiarity with college application platforms (e.g., Common App, Naviance, FAFSA).

Salary Range: $68,000 - $75,000
