SALARY & BENEFITS: Please refer to current CESA Classified Salary Schedule - https://www.carsoncityschools.com/departments/human_resources/salary_schedules. 6.00 hours per day, 181 days per year with benefits according to the classified negotiated agreement. Employer-paid retirement, health and life insurance, sick leave benefits and personal leave. A new classified employee may receive up to a maximum of three (3) years of previous outside work experience. The prior position must be similar in nature and written verification of employment from the previous employer must be submitted to Human Resources upon employment. Per Administrative Regulation No. 311.1.

NOTE: This position begins the 2024-2025 school year. This position is strictly contingent upon sufficient grant funding, and student enrollment.

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE: Graduation from high school or the equivalent. A typical qualifying entrance background is completion of formal or informal training in basic instructional techniques, or a closely related field, or experience performing student behavior supervision work. Must have an Associates Degree or completion of two (2) years of study at an institution of higher education (verified by official transcript) or pass the state-approved academic proficiency test (Para Professional Assessment). Position Summary
The Intervention Paraprofessional plays a crucial role in supporting teachers and students in a positive learning environment. The successful candidate should have a passion for working with children, the ability to implement instructional strategies effectively, and a willingness to collaborate with others to meet the diverse needs of students.

The Intervention Paraprofessional will work collaboratively with teachers and related staff to support classroom operations and provide positive guidance and instruction to students. The primary responsibility will be to assist in individualizing instruction and reinforcing learning activities for students, focusing on academic and social-emotional development. This position requires strong communication skills, the ability to work with diverse students, and the flexibility to adapt to new procedures and conditions.

Salary Range
$17.18/hr. to $21.79/hr. plus employer paid medical, dental, vision and life insurance, and retirement benefits.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Work with students individually or in small groups to provide tutoring and reinforcement for learning activities and classroom concepts.
Collect and organize student learning data in a variety of methods including progress monitor and skills assessment.
Provide positive reinforcement and encouragement to boost student confidence and motivation.
Assist students in various areas such as communication, self-control, and cooperation.
Provide assistance in mathematical concepts, literacy and reading skills, phonics acquisition and problem-solving techniques.
Support students in developing self-control and emotional regulation skills.
With guidance provided by a classroom teacher, follow plans to personalize instruction according to each learner's needs.
Monitor and assist with supervision in classroom, transitions, during outdoor activities and/or off campus field trips to ensure student safety and promote appropriate social skills.
Reinforce positive behavior and enforce school rules and regulations. Promote teamwork and positive social interactions among students. Address any behavioral issues promptly and appropriately.
Perform incidental housekeeping tasks, such as cleaning work areas, assisting with preparation of teaching materials, making copies, etc.
Collaborate and communicate with teachers, parents/guardians, and community partners in a positive and approachable manner.
Professional development and training: Participate in professional development activities and training sessions to enhance knowledge and skills related to instructional and behavioral supports. Stay updated on best practices, instructional strategies, and policies in the field.

Qualifications

High School graduation or equivalent.
Completion of formal or informal training in child development or a related field preferred.
Experience as a Paraprofessional in a special education program or equivalent preferred.
Bilingual proficiency preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Understanding of child development concepts and the general needs and behavior of children.
Familiarity with diverse learning strategies to support students with different learning needs.
Proficiency in reading and writing in English, as well as basic numeracy concepts.
Competence in using computers and basic office equipment.
Capacity to adapt to diverse needs, establish relationships, and collaborate with stakeholders.
Strong organizational and time management skills.
Problem-solving abilities and commitment to professional growth.

Physical Demands

Lift, carry, push, pull, or move objects up to 25 lbs occasionally, 10-15 lbs frequently, or a negligible amount constantly.
Frequent reaching, handling, and repetitive fine motor activities.
Ability to communicate orally and hear and respond to communication in person or over the telephone.
Vision for reading printed materials and using computer/device screens.

Working Conditions

Primarily in a climate-controlled school setting with occasional outdoor duties in various weather conditions.
Exposure to moderate to loud noise levels.
Hazards related to furniture, equipment, communicable diseases, chemicals (if applicable), and office equipment/machinery (if applicable).
On-campus work required, including both indoor and outdoor tasks.
