JOB OPENING
SCHOOL SECURITY GUARD (PART-TIME)
SCHOOL LOCATION (TBD)
$20.00 PER HOUR
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Patrols hallways and lavatories.
- Periodic check of exterior grounds including parking lots.
- Breaking up fights between students and intervening in other conflicts as needed.
- Investigation of incidents such as threats, thefts, potential fights and gang activity.
- Works at Report Card Conferences twice a year and graduation exercises in June.
- Works at school functions at the request of the building principal.
- Operates hand-held metal detectors when a situation warrants their use.
- Questions visitors entering the school building.
- Attends training seminars and in-service workshops as scheduled.
- Submits In-School Incident Reports to the building principal and Director of School Police and Security.
- Wears proper uniform at all times during working hours and when assigned to overtime details.
- Does not wear handcuffs, badges, mace, guns, or other police-related equipment.
- Notifies BOTH the school you are assigned to and the Office of School Police and Security by the start of your shift when absent (275-1125-Voicemail).
- Maintains professional demeanor and radio discipline at all times. No swearing or arguing will be allowed.
- Maintains contact with the building principal, teachers, staff, students, and the general public.
- Maintains order in the school building, helping to promote a secure environment conducive to a positive educational experience.
- MUST notify the principal and security office (203-275-1125) when leaving the building.
- TWENTY-minute paid lunch period is provided. Security Officers are not permitted to leave the building during lunch period unless approved by principal and security director.
REQUIREMENTS:
Must have State Mandated Security Guard Card or the ability to obtain a card within 60 days.
