Non-CDL Driver (Part -Time)

Terms of Employment

Part-time, 174 days, 4 hours per day. Salary is based on experience and per our Classified Salary Schedule (Non CDL Drivers $19.67 - $30.00). This position does not qualify for benefits.

Position Purpose

Under the general supervision of the Transportation Director, to ensure the safe transportation of students, staff, and others to and from school, residential neighborhoods, and field trips.

Summary

Responsible for driving students to and from schools located outside of the Weld RE-5J School District. Other routes may be assigned that do not require a CDL driver. Some of these routes may span a distance of greater than 50 miles (one-way).

Drive routes that do not require a CDL
Maintain and promote professional defensive driving attitude
Daily pre and post trip inspections
Maintain proper student discipline per Board policy
Maintain appropriate communication with supervisor, school and parents regarding student behavior
Assist transportation department with other duties, including utility work such as cleaning vehicles, building, and equipment, etc.
Attend work and arrive in a timely manner
Perform other duties as assigned

Confidential Information

Staff members shall not access, receive, transmit or retransmit material regarding students, parents/guardians or district employees that is protected by confidentiality laws.
If material is not legally protected but is of a confidential or sensitive nature, great care
shall be taken to ensure that only those with a “need to know” are allowed access to
the material.
Staff members shall handle all employee, student, and district records in accordance with applicable district policies.
Staff members who intentionally disclose student records, other confidential student information and/or district information may be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination.

Education and Related Work Experience

High school diploma or equivalent
Experience driving students preferred

Licenses/Certifications

Criminal background check
Valid Colorado Driver’s License
Current first aid and CPR card
Employee could be subject to drug and alcohol screening
Small Vehicle Training Completed within one month of hire

Ability to maintain professional working relationships with all District staff and community members and be part of a team

Ability to participate and working a team environment.
Ability to maintain honesty and integrity in all aspects of the job.
Ability and willingness adhere to attendance requirements, including regular and punctual employee presence.
Ability to promote and follow Board of Education policies, Superintendent policies and building and department procedures.

Ability to recognize the importance of safety in the workplace, follow safety rules, practice safe work habits, utilize appropriate safety equipment and report unsafe conditions to the appropriate administrator.
