PURPOSE OF POSITION

The Elementary Principal is responsible for the policies and procedures related to the supervision and planning of all educational programs. Provide leadership in the areas of instruction, evaluation, and supervision. Major areas of focus include safety, students, staff, parents, curriculum and instruction, technology, public relations/communications, and budget.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsible for all budget expenditures, including, but not limited to purchase orders, supply inventory, textbook inventory, utilization of grant money.
Responsible for all initial recruitment of new staff in partnership with the Human Capital office. Share hiring decisions with staff/parent representative committees and recommend possible candidates to the Human Capital office.
Assist and support all staff members in the areas of student discipline, Intervention Assistance Team recommendations, and student or parental disagreements.
Prepare and maintain all records required by school law, regulation, or requested by the superintendent. This will include retention, promotion, and assignment of all students.
Coordinate and attend co-curricular and extracurricular activities, including but not limited to parent club meetings, athletic events, co-curricular events, concerts, and school dances.
Responsible for the development, direct supervision, and evaluation of the extracurricular program. This may include hiring staff and officials, attending meetings, writing and enforcing guidelines for participation, and scheduling activities and facilities.
Monitor and supervise students in a variety of settings during the school day. Supervise the bus unloading and loading, hallways before, between, and after classes, and all lunch periods.
May have additional duties/responsibilities assigned by superiors as deemed necessary.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Knowledge and understanding of the Ohio Revised Code and state requirements pertaining to the educational system.
Ability to demonstrate interpersonal and teamwork skills.
Possess a high degree of organizational skills.
Demonstrates enthusiasm and a sincere desire to assist all students.
Ability to communicate professionally and effectively by oral, written and presentation communication.
Ability to solve extensive problems quickly, systematically, and effectively.
Ability to demonstrate educational leadership, commitment to academic excellence, effective discipline, sensitivity to multicultural issues, and fiscal and budgetary responsibility.
Knowledge in word processing, spreadsheet, and database software.
Conscientious and assumes responsibility for own work.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Appropriate and valid State of Ohio certification/license.
Successful administrative experience preferred.
At least three years of highly successful teaching experience.

ADDITIONAL WORKING CONDITIONS

Exposure to blood, bodily fluids and tissue.
Interaction among unruly adults/children
Operation of a vehicle in inclement weather conditions.
Repetitive hand motion, e.g. computer keyboard, typing, calculator, writing.
Requirement to travel, both daily and overnight.
Weekend/evening/summer work.
