Junior Varsity Volleyball Coach

Position:                    Junior Varsity Volleyball Coach

Location:                    River Valley Middle/High School & New Buffalo High School

Compensation:         According to the River Valley/New Buffalo Coaching Compensation Scale

Qualifications

ü  Has a high school diploma or its equivalency.

ü  Has playing experience in sport.

ü  Demonstrated coaching experience and knowledge of MHSAA standards and guidelines.

ü  Has excellent communication skills.

ü  Has the ability to develop professional working relationships with staff, parents, students, and community members.

ü  Commitment to building a strong partnership between River Valley and New Buffalo high school programs and athletic departments through a cooperative agreement that requires excellent communication and collaboration skills with both districts.

ü  Has the ability to work as a team with other coaching staff and school administrators.

ü  Has experience working with middle/high school students.

Essential functions of the job include but are not limited to the following:

ü  Reliable, regular, and punctual on-site attendance is required to perform the essential functions, duties, and responsibilities of a coach.

ü  Take all necessary precautions to provide for the health and safety of athletes and to protect equipment, materials, and facilities - including taking inventories.

ü  Develop and implement engaging and effective practice and game plans.

ü  Help establish and communicate clear objectives for all athletes.

ü  Help to provide individualized and small group instruction to meet the needs of each athlete.

ü  Monitor and evaluate the progress of individual athletes; and use the information to adjust coaching strategies.

ü  Manage athletes’ behavior by modeling, teaching, expecting and enforcing behavioral expectations in a firm, fair, friendly manner so kids can fulfill their potential as adults.

ü  Participate in team, coaches and parent meetings.

ü  Help communicate necessary information regularly to athletes, parents and colleagues regarding athlete progress, needs, and scheduling updates.

ü  Model, teach, expect and enforce good sportsmanship.

ü  Perform other duties as assigned.
