Speech Language Pathologist
Ocosta School District is currently accepting applications for a Speech/Language Pathologist for the 2025/26 school year. The position is 0.5FTE during school hours. The successful candidate will demonstrate leadership, collaboration, and advocacy to facilitate student welfare and success.
The Speech/Language Pathologist provides services in the areas of student assessment, direct therapy, training, and consultation for staff, parents and equipment fabrication or adaptation to enable students to function at their highest possible level within the educational system. Participates as a member of a multi-disciplinary team in the assessment program and evaluates students. Acts as a liaison with medical and community service providers on behalf of handicapped children and their families.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Valid Washington State Educational Staff Associate Certificate with endorsement for Communications Disorders Specialist.
- MS degree in speech and language pathology with State Education Staff Associate Certification as speech and language pathologist.
- Certificate of Clinical Competence preferred.
- Familiarity with IEP software preferred.
- Successful completion of WSP/FBI fingerprint background check.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:
- Assess students for speech and language skills as part of a full evaluation or speech and language only evaluation.
- Plan and implement effective individual and group programs for eligible students as described on the Individualized Education Plan (IEP).
- Maintain consistent data keeping procedures on each student served in speech and language therapy.
- Develop positive behavior management techniques for improving student behavior and maintaining a productive learning environment.
- Perform as a team member within the educational environment, consulting with the classroom teacher, principal, parents, and other professionals as appropriate.
- Report to parents on a regular basis as outlined by the IEP.
- Provide consultant service to classroom teachers and parents as caseload permits.
- Participate as a member of the Multi-Disciplinary Team.
- Screen children as referred through the Multi-Disciplinary process or direct referral to determine eligibility for speech and language therapy.
- Work in a positive and constructive manner with SLP-A and certificated staff to ensure program continuity for students from preschool through age twenty-two (22).
- Complete required paperwork appropriately and in a timely manner.
- Other duties as assigned by the Director of Special Education.
