Position: Oakridge Early Childhood Center (OECC) Administrator

Location: Oakridge Early Childhood Center

Term: 205 days (182 staff days + 23 days in summer) including occasional evening commitments.

SUMMARY:

The OECC Administrator tends to day-to-day onsite leadership/management of GSRP preschool and Early Childhood Special Education (ECSE) classrooms. The OECC Administrator is supported by a part-time Early Childhood Specialist (ECC) with a master’s degree from the MAISD and a Special Education Supervisor both of which tend to compliance/evaluation of respective GSRP and ECSE classrooms. The OECC Administrator may serve as a licensee designee for our child care license.

NOTE: The district maintains an active alternate posting called “Early Childhood Specialist/GSRP Site Administrator” that requires a master’s degree in early childhood allowing a potential candidate to serve as the early childhood specialist, GSRP program director, and ECSE site administrator. Both postings will remain active until one of the positions is satisfactorily filled. This posting and credentials listed below assumes the OECC Administrator is supported by an MAISD contracted early childhood specialist.

QUALIFICATIONS:

One of the following required:

Bachelor’s degree or higher in early childhood education or child development.
Bachelor’s degree or higher in child-related field including 18 semester hours in Early Childhood Education or Child Development and 480 hours of experience.
Associate’s degree in early childhood education or child development including 18 semester hours of course in early childhood education or child development and 480 hours of experience.
Valid child development associate credential with 18 semester hours of course in early childhood education or child development and 480 hours of experience.
60 semester hours with 18 semester hours of coursework in early childhood education or child development and 1920 hours of experience.
An applicant not meeting one of the above required credentials may be considered on the condition of the candidate agreeing to and the district being awarded a variance compliance plan under Michigan Administrative Code R. 400.1963.

All the following preferred:

Successful teaching experience in early childhood program(s)
Experience working with state child care licensing regulations.
Experience using Connect 4 Learning (C4L) and its child assessment tool in a pre-school classroom environment.
Experience using Conscious Discipline.
Experience working in pre-school programs.
Technology including computers and computer programs like Powerschool and state reporting systems.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Other duties may be assigned.

Develop, implement, and evaluate early childhood center policies and program.
Administer day-to-day operations, including being available to address parent, child, and staff issues.
Monitor all staff, including annual evaluations, with the support of the ECS.
Support the effective implementation of preschool curricula in classrooms.
Facilitate staff meetings and support ECS with professional learning teams to create meaningful program quality improvement goals to achieve desired center and child outcomes.
Coordinate with ECS to provide 1:1 mentoring of classroom staff to support their professional development or other goals for classroom operations and improve child learning and achievement.
Organize, lead, attend, and participate in GSRP staff meetings to discuss quality improvement plans and implementation.
Acquire and maintain a thorough knowledge of all laws, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures pertinent to GSRP programs and apply such knowledge toward leading a quality GSRP program.
Assist the ECS to create and distribute local assessment data packets/parent teacher conference forms/K readiness checklists
Assist the ECS to monitor parent/teacher conferences and Home Visits per each child
Assist the ECS to prepare parent/teacher conference materials
Assist and support ECS on monitoring teacher compliance plans
Assist and support implementation of Conscious Discipline
Support CDA renewals and credential updates
Monitor/support professional development certificates for trainings
Monitor and comply with licensing requirements.
Serve as liaison between MAISD and Oakridge ECC staff
Support Great Start to Quality
Supporting classroom behavior support plans
Attend local GSRP meetings held in coordination with the MAISD.
Provide student and classroom support, serving as the building Student Support Team coordinator.
Prepare and manage financial resources including budgeting, staffing, and ordering supplies in partnership with district finance department.
Maintain accurate records and reporting of all student records and processes (i.e. attendance, medication, enrollment applications, etc)
Performs such other tasks and assumes such other responsibilities as may be assigned.
