Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Computer Network Specialist to join our team at Orange County Public Schools. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the design, implementation, maintenance, and support of our computer networks as well as providing technical support to locations throughout the district. This role requires a strong understanding of networking and device technologies, exceptional problem-solving skills, and a commitment to providing a secure and efficient network environment for our educational community.

Responsibilities

- Monitor network performance and troubleshoot issues to ensure optimal operation and minimal downtime.

- Maintain network security measures, including firewalls, VPN and backups

- Collaborate with IT staff and educational stakeholders to assess network needs and help develop solutions.

- Provide technical support and training to staff and students

- Conduct regular network assessments and audits to identify areas for improvement and ensure compliance with district policies.

- Document configurations, procedures, and changes to maintain accurate records.

- Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies and industry trends to enhance district performance and security.

- Assist in the planning and execution of technology upgrades and expansions as needed.

Requirements:

- Minimum of 3 years of experience in network administration or a similar role.

- Strong knowledge of networking protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, etc.) and technologies (LAN, WAN, VPN).

- Experience with network monitoring tools and troubleshooting techniques.

- Familiarity with security best practices and network security technologies.

- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work individually or collaboratively in a team environment.

- Ability to prioritize tasks, manage time effectively, and handle multiple projects simultaneously.

- Commitment to continuous learning and professional development in the field of networking.

-Knowledge of and familiarity with products that run a variety of OS, including AppleOS products and Windows OS

Preferred:

- Relevant certifications such as Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) or CompTIA Network+

-Bachelor’s in a relevant field

-Knowledge of analog and digital intercom technologies

-Experience with supporting and maintaining Google Workspace, Microsoft Active Directory and Azure
