Position Title: Special Education Assistant (ECSE, Early Childhood Special Education)

Location: Harvey Education Center / Mason Public Schools / In-Person

Reports to: Principal

Education and Experience (Required):

High school diploma or equivalent
Experience working with children

Education and Experience (Desired):

Associate degree in education
Experience with elementary students

Job Description:

Work with students in a special education classroom setting
Assisting students with health care plans
Provide special education classroom support with toileting and feeding
Individual/group support in academics and social skills
Directing/redirecting attention
Finding, modifying, preparing materials
Administering formal behavior management procedures
Assisting/monitoring moving around the building
Assist with peer support activities
Assisting students with personal hygiene activities and lifting of students

Physical Requirements and Work Environment:

This position requires long periods of standing, sitting, and walking.
The position requires occasional lifting of supplies and movement of classroom furnishings during the course of the school day.
Work may take place both indoors and outdoors, with the possibility of some travel to other schools or field trip locations.

Schedule: M-Th, 8:25 am to 11:55 am, 12:20 pm to 3:50 pm 7.00 hours per day, 28 hours weekly, school year schedule of August to June annually.

Wage: $15.08 hourly. Annual raises for first five years, then every 5 years per the bargaining agreement.
