Summary:

Serve as attendance secretary for the Lakeview High School in recognition that regular, dependable monitoring and reporting of attendance is a critical performance factor to ensure consistent, high-quality services to students and families. This position is part of the student services office staff which works collaboratively towards the goal of supporting a positive learning environment by working directly with students, parents, and staff in matters of student attendance.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Greet public, receive telephone calls, record and disseminate messages, and route calls and messages in regards to attendance.
Verify and correctly code student attendance, including but not limited to tracking absences by type.
Maintain excellent attendance data.
Responsible for student dismissal for appointments per parent notification and permission.
Respond to inquires from students, parents/guardians, school officials and teachers regarding attendance practices, absences, suspensions, and enrollment status.
Maintain, prepare, and distribute files, records, reports, and correspondence related to attendance.
Point of contact for substitute teachers throughout the school day including entering the attendance for substitute teachers.
Enter attendance for substitute teachers.
Participate annually in back-to-school activities.
Understand and support the work of the other secretaries, as well as all administrators, in the main office.
Participation in training as identified by district administration and/or immediate supervisor.
Submit weekly communicable disease report to health department
Assemble and distribute materials to instructional staff for year-end checkout
Responsible for all attendance tracking for students within the normal school day.
Monitor and communicate with administration on attendance concerns and patterns.
Prepare count-day attendance and suspension reports & documentation.
Track and report student absences as required to support the attendance policy.
Prepares all locker assignments for incoming freshmen, new students.
Cleans out senior lockers at the end of the year and as students withdraw.
Maintains records of padlock and adds fines to student skyward account as needed for lost locks.
Shares responsibility in purging senior CA-60 files and preparing for archival.
Acts as secondary medication administrator
Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications Requirements:

Education and/or Experience:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) is required.
Minimum of two years’ experience in an educational office environment preferred.

Regular, dependable attendance is a critical performance factor to ensure consistent, high quality services to children and families.
Ability to support colleagues within the high school main office.
Strong written and verbal communication, interpersonal, and customer-service skills.
Possess basic mathematical skills.
Possess basic bookkeeping skills.
Computer literacy and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Google programs (such as Drive, Docs, Sheets, Gmail, etc.), including the willingness to learn and use new computer programs/applications.
Ability to develop effective working relationships with all students, staff and the school community.
Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and policies.
Experience working with students in a diverse, multicultural academic setting preferred.
Ability to perform duties of a sensitive & confidential nature.
Bilingual preferred.

Language Skills:

Ability to read and interpret document. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively to staff, students, and community members.

Mathematical Skills:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to apply common sense and understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
