Note * - Applicant needs to be willing to learn to fix instruments, be organized. Needs to be wiling to spend hours outside of school hours working with the program. Must be able to carry heavy times at times.

Job Overview:

Hoquiam High School is seeking a passionate and dedicated Music Assistant to support our dynamic music program. This role is designed to foster meaningful relationships, engage learners, provide adaptive pathways, and strengthen community connections through music education. The Music Assistant will work closely with the Music Directors, students, and community partners to create an enriching and inclusive musical environment. Additional stipend provided for extracurricular support including Color Guard coaching and band/choir activities.

Key Responsibilities:

Meaningful Relationships:

Foster positive and supportive relationships with students, staff, and community members.
Provide mentorship and encouragement to students of all skill levels.
Assist in maintaining a welcoming and inclusive music environment for all learners.

Engaged Learners:

Support students in developing musical skills through instruction, rehearsal, and performance preparation.
Assist in organizing and leading sectional rehearsals, small group instruction, and one-on-one coaching.
Encourage student participation and enthusiasm in both curricular and extracurricular music activities.

Adaptive Pathways:

Help tailor instruction to meet the diverse needs and abilities of students.
Utilize a variety of teaching strategies and resources to enhance learning experiences.
Support students in exploring different musical genres, instruments, and career pathways in music.

Community Connections:

Assist in coordinating school concerts, community performances, and outreach programs.
Strengthen partnerships with local musicians, organizations, and families to enhance student experiences.
Support fundraising and advocacy efforts to sustain and grow the music program.

Qualifications:

Background in music education, performance, or related field preferred.
Ability to troubleshoot and perform minor repairs for instruments preferred.
Understanding of ASB policies and procedures preferred.
Experience in dance, color guard, show design preferred.
Experience working with students in an instructional or mentoring capacity.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
Passion for music and a commitment to student success.
Strong organizational, record keeping skills.
Ability to march with the band for long duration
Basic to intermediate knowledge in technology
Ability to measure, fit, mend and maintain uniforms
This position requires a high level of confidentiality.

Salary: $20.82 - $25.30 an hour

Benefits: State allocation towards dental, vision, medical insurance, retirement, 9 paid holidays, 10 sick leave days, 3 personal leave days.

Employment is contingent upon successful clearance of a Washington State Patrol, FBI fingerprint criminal history background check, and Sexual Misconduct background check.
