Ocosta Jr/Sr High School is now accepting applications for an Alternative Learning Environment (ALE), Open Doors (GED), & LAP Support Instructor. The position is 1 FTE for the 2025/26 school year. Under the Director of Teaching & Learning's general supervision, to serve as an A.L.E. lead teacher and liaison for students and families participating in the district's A.L.E. and Open Doors (GED) Program. This job will oversee the A.L.E. process for Ocosta ALE 7-12 as well as the Open Doors Program while provide Learning Assistance Program (LAP) support.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelors degree from an accredited college/university.
Current Washington State teaching certificate with appropriate endorsement(s).
Successful completion of WSP/FBI fingerprint background check.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Ability to identify curriculum from a broad range of topics and grade levels to support student and family's needs.
Ability to support students and families with creating lessons that complement the curriculum.
Track and assess student academic progress and attendance.
Individualize instruction and coaching to help each student achieve curricular objectives.
Provide students and parents with regular feedback regarding student performance and progress.
Generate information and formal reports regarding student performance and progress.
Prepare students for standardized tests and proctor site-based exams.
Collaborate with various general education content teachers to provide additional support and guidance to students.
Ability to learn and gain a deep understanding of the A.L.E. process, rules, and regulations.
Able to learn new computer systems specific to developing and tracking students’ progress and manage student learning plans.
Collaborate closely with counseling staff to ensure high school and beyond requirements are integrated into student learning plans.
Understand and align student learning pathways to graduation requirements for 7-12.
Provide guidance and support for students participating in the Open Doors Youth Reengagement Program that provides education and services to older youth, ages 16-21, who have dropped out of school or are not expected to graduate from high school by the age of 21.
Observe district policies and procedures and ensure all activities conform with district guidelines.
Build supportive relationships with community members/organizations and district staff through effective communication skills.
Attend professional staff development.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:

Knowledge of current teaching methods and educational pedagogy and differentiated instruction based upon student learning styles.
Knowledge of data information systems, data analysis, and the formulation of Written Student Learning Plans.
Knowledge or ability to learn the applicable federal and state laws regarding education and students.
Ability to use computer network systems and software applications as needed.
Ability to organize and coordinate work.
Ability to communicate effectively with students and parents.
Ability to engage in self-evaluation with regard to performance and professional growth.
Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others contacted in the course of work.
Ability to work independently with high levels of efficiency.
Ability to solve problems and be a part of the solutions; takes ownership of their role.
Be aware of distinct resources to share with families and have a basic knowledge of using them.
