Description:

A specialist in this position uses multiple data sources (grades, attendance, behavior, teacher referral) to identify barriers preventing students from school success. After barriers have been identified, the specialist position uses data to work with a team to develop and implement plans to reduce identified barriers.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Essential duties of this position include the following. Employees in this position perform some or all of the following tasks. Other duties may be assigned.

Establish and maintain relationships with students.
Active member of the MTSS team and/or Student Success Team.
Create, organize, and communicate individual student support plans.
Provide direct service to students.
Update the student support team on student progress.
Communicate with families regarding their student’s progress.
Advocate for students with teachers by facilitating the gathering of missing work and assisting in the completion.
Coordinate and maintain data systems (Attendance, Grades, and Behavior)
Communicate with students regarding progress.
Behavior/discipline data management.
Manage attendance intervention data.
Manage LAP data.
Maintain confidentiality.
Assist in Chromebook device management.
Respond to behavior calls.
Facilitate lunch and after school detention.
Assist with lunch supervision.
Organize Saturday School.
Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Must be at least eighteen years of age, High School Diploma/GED, Associate Degree, 2 years of college (transcripts required) or passage of Published Paraprofessional Assessment.
Proven ability to work with children.
Proven ability to follow directions and procedures with a minimum of supervision.
Proven ability to work with a variety of staff members in a positive manner.
Proven ability to maintain confidentiality, specifically with student records, behavior, or academic concerns.
Computer skills.
Ability to follow all district safety rules. First Aid card required.

Physical Requirements:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

Employees must have the ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time.
Physical ability to lift 25 pounds to shoulder height.
Ability to bend, stoop, climb stairs, and reach overhead.
Ability to effectively manage student transition to a variety of locations (e.g. P.E., recess, buses and lunch) throughout the day.
