The Mary M. Knight School District is accepting applications for Kindergarten Teacher for the 2025-2026 school year.

Primary Purpose:  To create a classroom environment by establishing rapport with students; to plan, organize and implement instruction aligned with state standards; to assess and report learning; to collaborate with other staff members and parents, so that students learn at high levels.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Assess students in individual and classroom performance in accordance with Washington State Standards.
  • Collaborate with school personnel, students and parents for the purpose of improving the quality of student outcomes, developing solutions and planning curriculum.
  • Reports progress to students and parents at intervals set by the district.
  • Prepare teaching materials and reports (e.g. grades, attendance, anecdotal records, etc.) for the purpose of implementing lesson plans and providing documentation of teacher and student progress.
  • Establish and communicate learning goals, track student progress and celebrate success.
  • Establish and maintain classroom rules and procedures
  • Plan, prepare and deliver instruction so that students effectively interact with new knowledge
  • Plan, prepare and implement classroom activities and assessments so that students practice and deepen their understanding and skills
  • Engage students in learning of state standards
  • Establish and maintain effective relationships with students
  • Communicate high expectations for all students
  • Create instructional resources for use in the classroom.
  • Create positive educational climate for student learning.
  • Meet course and school-wide student performance goals.
  • Participate in ongoing professional learning
  • Utilize district adopted curriculum resources.
  • Develop professional relationships with other agencies and programs.
  • Collaborate with other staff and administration to ensure initiatives are being met.
  • Differentiate instruction to ensure that all students learn
  • Prepare and distribute required reports.
  • Observe and evaluate student performance.
  • Communicate with parents and community
  • Exhibit collaborative and collegial practices focused on continuous improvement

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher
  • Washington State Teaching Certificate with appropriate endorsements
  • Successful Washington State Patrol and FBI fingerprint clearance/criminal history background check
  • Knowledge of Washington State requirements (TPEP, Common core, smarter Balanced)
  • Ability to communicate and collaborate with parents, staff, and administration
