Job Description
Reports to: Principal Location: Centralia High School/Middle School
Bargaining Unit: Non-Represented FLSA Status: Exempt
Job Summary:
The CTE Director provides leadership and support for the career and technical education program throughout the Centralia School District. This position develops, implements, supports and grows the CTE program and options through relationships built with the staff, students, and the community.
Required Qualifications:
· Possession of a CTE Director Certificate or willingness to obtain one in a reasonable amount of time after hire
· Master’s degree in career and technical education, school administration or related area, or a Bachelors’ degree with significant applicable experience
· Successful experience managing budgets, including state and federal categorical funding
· Ability to be self-directed while working with a high degree of collaboration
· Ability to act ethical and confidential in all aspects of employment
· Ability to communicate effectively, possess awareness of self and others, listen actively, be patient, incorporate humor/lightheartedness into work, be empathic, possess a growth mindset, and be customer-service oriented
· Ability to support the District’s vision, mission, goals, and culture code including the belief that all students can succeed
· Service leader mindset
· Ability to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodations
Preferred Qualifications:
· At least three years of successful educational administration experience
· At least three years as a CTE teacher with an active CTSO
· Ability to speak Spanish
· Successful experience working with individuals from diverse backgrounds
Essential Functions:
· Works with building administration to develop, implement, and maintain a CTE long-range plan that aligns to District goals and interests
· Develops and aligns CTE programming to industry standards
· Supervises and directs the District CTE programming including but not limited to maintaining compliance, establishing, and maintain the CTE budget, securing and managing the Perkins grant funding, and preparing and submitting reports.
· Partners with administration to recruit, train, support, and retain high-quality CTE teachers as openings occur and/or programs evolve
· Provides professional development opportunities to CTE staff aligned with program and District CTE goals
· Connects with and supports the community and business leaders in program advisories and general advisory committees
· Promotes CTE programs to the community, including but not limited to attending Chamber of Commerce, Rotary, Kiwanis, and Lewis County Community action Council meetings
· Coordinates with post-secondary institutions to maximize articulated dual credit opportunities
· Actively supports CTSO and program activities including assisting with student travel, delivering needed program supplies, and CTSO activities
· Actively participates in the regional Washington Association of Career and Technical Administrators
· Actively seeks funding for CTE programs through grant applications and community donations
· Supervises and evaluates CTE personnel
· Creates a safe physical and emotional space for students to engage in rigorous academic learning
· Actively supports and reinforces school and district policies and procedures
· Actively supports all aspects of the school improvement plan
· Actively supports the District’s mission, vision, and goals
· Actively supports the CTE department’s goals
· Attends trainings and meetings as directed or appropriate
· Other duties as assigned
Salary: $129,829 - $143,306, depending on experience
Work schedule: 234 days per school year, M-F, 8 hours per day
