Counselor

Category: Certificated
ETO Salary Schedule Range:
· $62,523.27 - $118,446.05
Benefits include:
- Twelve (12) Days of Sick Leave per school year
- Two (2) Personal Leave Days per school year

- Counselors shall be eligible for up to ten (10) additional days for scheduling, IEPs, and testing.
Minimum Required Qualifications:
- Possess or be eligible for a valid Washington State Counselor credential, ESA certification in school counseling, and a Master’s Degree
- Successful Washington State Patrol and Federal Bureau of Investigation Fingerprint clearance
- Must hold or have the ability to obtain a First Aid/CPR Certification
- Demonstrated ability to:
- Utilize effective reading, writing, computation, and communication skills
- Develop and utilize community connections to strengthen programming
- Organize, problem solve, critically and creatively think, make decisions, and apply cooperative learning skills
- Regular attendance is an essential function of this position
Desired Qualifications:
· Successful counseling or teaching experience at the high school level
· Successfully collaborate with students, parents, staff, and administration
· Experience with cooperative teaming for special needs, at-risk, and ELL students
Responsibilities Include:
· Advise students, parents, and guardians for the purpose of providing information on student’s progress and/or recommendations regarding their successful transition to and from high school
· Counsels students, parents, and guardians for the purpose of enhancing student success in school, including at-risk students
· Monitors student records for the purpose of developing plans and/or providing information regarding student’s academic, social, emotional, and behavioral goals
· Collects and analyzes relevant data to build interventions for struggling students functions as an integral participant in teaching teams and provides consultation to faculty and staff around academic and social-emotional intervention
· Researches program eligibility requirements (i.e. financial aid, college eligibility, etc.) for the purpose of maintaining knowledge of eligibility requirements to provide counsel to students
· Schedules student classes for the purpose of securing an appropriate placement and meeting their graduation and college eligibility requirements
· Supervises assigned programs (e.g. scholarships, credit retrieval, Running Start, New Market Skills Center, etc.) for the purpose of monitoring performance, providing for professional growth, and achieving overall curriculum objectives.
· Prepares documentation (e.g. observations, progress, contacts with parents, teachers, outside professionals, etc.) for the purpose of providing written support, developing recommendations, and/or conveying information
· Works with at-risk youth and understands and promotes a positive school climate and culture of ethnically and socially diverse students and parent population
· Work closely with the registrar, administrators
· Case manager for students with individual learning plans (504 and Hi-Cap)
· Facilitator of small groups and able to do classroom lessons
· Participates in relevant professional development to stay abreast of and implement current best practices and/or state mandates
· The safety and health of students and others are an essential function of this position
