The Elma School District is accepting applications for the following classified position:
Special Education Paraprofessional
1:1 Student Support
3.5 hours per day, (Monday through Friday)
Date Posted: 12/10/2024- 12/17/2024 or until position is filled.
Assignment: Monday-Friday 3.5 hours per day –potential for increased hours.
EESP Salary Schedule Rate Range:
· $24.38 - $28.00

Responsibilities:
The 1:1 Care Provider for a medically fragile student will be responsible for supporting the student throughout the school day, ensuring their medical needs are met and that they are able to safely and effectively participate in their educational environment. The care provider will collaborate closely with school staff, nurses, teachers, and other specialists to provide the necessary care and assistance tailored to the student’s unique health and educational requirements.
Required Qualifications:
· High School diploma or GED
· Meets NCLB definition of highly qualified requirements:
· A two-year Associate degree
· 72-quarter or 48-semester college credits, or
· A passing score of 461 on the ETS Para Pro Assessment
· WSP/FBI fingerprint background clearance (fee paid by the employee)
Desired Qualifications:
· Monitor and attend to the student’s medical needs as outlined in the student’s Individualized Education Plan (IEP) or medical care plan.
· Recognize signs of medical distress and take appropriate action, including notifying school personnel or emergency services if needed.
· Maintain accurate and timely records of care provided, including documenting any medical incidents, treatments, or medication administration.
· Accompany the student to and from classes, ensuring their safety during transitions.
· Facilitate the student’s participation in educational activities by assisting with classroom tasks.
· Work in conjunction with classroom teachers and special education staff to ensure the student is able to engage in lessons and activities to the fullest extent possible.
· Implement accommodations or modifications as outlined in the student’s IEP.
· Communicate regularly with the school nurse, teachers, and other school personnel about the student’s medical and academic progress.
· Adhere to all school policies, state and federal regulations regarding the care of medically fragile students.
· Follow established protocols for infection control, health, and safety in the school environment.
· Ensure confidentiality and privacy of the student’s medical information in accordance with HIPAA and FERPA guidelines.
· Able to provide personal care assistance (toileting, feeding, changing)
· Right response trained
· Follows direction of the certificated teacher
· The safety and health of the students and others are essential functions of this position.
