Salary Stipend Range:
- $1,379.70 - $1,505.70
Benefits Include:
- I-1433 Sick Leave, the employee will accrue at least one (1) hour of paid sick leave for every forty (40) hours worked
Summary:
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced coach to join our team for the upcoming season. The Unified Coach will be responsible for coaching and mentoring a team of athletes with and without intellectual disabilities. This is a seasonal position that requires a commitment to attend practices and competitions throughout the season.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School diploma or GED is required
- Must be at least 21 years or older
- Current First Aid and CPR endorsement or be enrolled in the course
- Must have a WSP/FBI fingerprint background clearance check (fee paid by employee)
- Meet the WIAA coaching standard criteria
- Clear communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain positive working relationships with students, staff, parents and community
- Demonstrate a knowledge and understanding of the sport skill, strategy and rules
- Prior coaching experience or playing experience in the sport is given preference
- Regular attendance is an essential function of this position
Examples of Duties:
- Develop and implement training programs for athletes with and without intellectual disabilities
- Provide guidance and support to athletes in achieving their goals
- Foster a positive and inclusive team environment
- Collaborate with other coaches and staff to ensure the success of the team
- Attend all practices and competitions throughout the season
- Maintain accurate records of athlete progress and team performance
- Ensure the safety and well-being of all athletes
- Provide direct leadership and organization for all levels of the assigned sport/activity
- Provide direct ongoing supervision of all athletes, manage before/during/after all practices/conditioning sessions games/travel and other school-sanctioned events
- Develop appropriate objectives of the assigned sport/activity
- Maintain knowledge of league and district rules and regulations related directly to the assigned sport/activity, student participation and parent/community involvement
- Continually teach and emphasize safety procedures and precautions to all athletes
- Report all injuries to the Athletic Director, and complete appropriate report(s)
- Immediately reports all violations or suspected violations of established rules and regulations to the Athletic Director and District Unified Advisor
- Organizes and conducts, in coordination with the Athletic Director, parent meetings prior to the season an provides ongoing parent communication throughout the season
- Provide guidance, leadership, and the fundamental skills necessary to execute the program in a successful manner
- Assume the leadership role in relation to team organization, style of play, practice schedules, equipment and assigned responsibilities
- Assume responsibility clearing all athletes who are returning to play after an injury through the Athletic Director and District Unified Advisor
- Monitors student compliance with all provisions of the ESD Athletic Code, and comply with WIAA Rules and Regulations
- Organizes award and recognition for athletes/participants
- Responsible for a clean and orderly storage facility
