Position Summary:

Under the supervision of the Maintenance/Custodial Lead and principal, the custodian substitute
performs a variety of custodial duties to maintain the cleanliness and orderliness of the school building and rooms.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:
Primary Responsibilities/Duties:

Sweep, mop, spot clean, strip, refinish, and buff hard surface flooring (VAT, vinyl, wood, etc.).
Vacuum, remove spots and stains, and perform extraction cleaning on carpeted floors.
Clean/sanitize lavatory fixtures/facilities, refill dispensers, clean interior and exterior window surfaces, empty recycle containers and trash/garbage, dust interior vertical and horizontal surfaces.
Remove extraneous dirt and markings from interior and exterior surfaces (walls, doors, etc.).
Follow instructions for safe work practices and chemical use, storage of chemicals, tools, equipment and associated materials.
Report the need for building, facility or equipment repair or maintenance to supervisor.
Operate fire alarm systems and HVAC systems.
Comply with safety policies and procedures.
Properly dispose of hazardous waste and body fluids.
Use and maintain assigned power equipment and hand tools such as a vacuum, broom, mop, and ladder for cleaning and general maintenance of floors, walls, carpets and furniture.
Secure building when facilities are not in use by checking for unlocked doors and windows; report unauthorized occupants.
Set-up and take down equipment, such as easels, furnishings, folding chairs, tables, and athletic equipment needed for meetings, classrooms, conferences, and events.
Other related duties as assigned.

Special Requirements:

FBI and Washington State Patrol background clearance required

Benefits: One hour Sick Leave for every 40 hours worked. Position not anticipated to work 630 hours per year so does not qualify for medical, dental, and vision insurance.
