Description:

The job of the substitute certificated teacher is to Substitute in the teacher classroom providing instruction and support in absence of a regular classroom teacher for any or all grade levels kindergarten through high school.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Meet Washington state certification and endorsement requirements to teach or substitute in the Crescent School District.
  2. Successful candidates must be able to pass a Washington State Patrol and FBI fingerprint background screening prior to employment.
  3. Exceptional organization, communication, and classroom management skills.
  4. Ability to create a classroom learning environment that is engaging, orderly, secure and appealing for students and in which mutual respect is shown.
  5. Knowledge and skill in instructional principles, methods and techniques.
  6. Skill in obtaining, clarifying and exchanging information.
  7. Skill in handling student discipline.
  8. Ability to organize and coordinate activities.
  9. Ability to serve as role model and treat students as individuals in a professional manner.
  10. Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  11. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a variety of people in a multicultural, diverse socio-economic setting.
  12. Ability to model learning and behavior consistent with the expectations for students.
  13. Assist the administration in implementing all policies and rules governing student life and conduct.
  14. Perform other such duties as may be assigned from time to time by the principal.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • A valid Washington State Teaching, Substitute, ESA or CTE certificate.
  • Must pass a criminal justice fingerprint/background check.

SALARY:  Pioneer School District Substitute Rate: $205.00 for full day

Benefits: This position is not eligible for benefits or union membership. Employees (and their families) are eligible for medical, dental, vision, and basic life insurance benefits, as administered by the School Employees Benefit Board (SEBB). Final benefit eligibility to be determined at time of hire.  Employees are eligible to enroll in the Department of Retirement Services (DRS) SERS plan (classified employees) or TERS plan (certificated employees), as well as the DRS Deferred Compensation Program. Employees receive sick leave, personal leave, and paid holidays as outlined in the applicable Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA).
