Program Overview - Eaton RESA Adult Education operates on a variety of local, state, and federal
grants to serve adult learners in Clinton, Eaton, and Ingham counties. We host classes at the three
regional locations of Capital Area Michigan Works!, the Clinton and Eaton County jails, and other
satellite sites. Adult Basic Education (ABE) and High School Equivalency (HSE) are taught in the areas
of social studies, science, mathematics, and language arts. Our Learn-to-Earn program also provides
English as a Second Language (ESL) at the Ingham County Capital Area Michigan Works! location.
Classes are held during the day and evening, following a school calendar. Employment with this
position is contracted and paid hourly through EduStaff. It is a grant-funded position with varied
employment hours available. (Part-time/contractual)
Position: Adult Education Instructor
Key Responsibilities
Plan and Deliver Lessons:
● Utilize approved curriculum and instructional methods tailored to adult learners, including core
HSE test areas (language arts, math, social studies, science) and ABE subjects (reading, math,
language). Learn-to-Earn programs may include English as a Second Language (ESL) content.
● Implement diverse instructional methods, both in-person and online, using student learning
modules.
● Track student progress, attendance, TABE assessments, case notes, and maintain accurate
student records, ensuring confidentiality.
● Promote employability skills, soft skills, and create a job-like classroom environment.
● Manage the classroom effectively and suggest program improvements.
Administrative and Communication Responsibilities:
● Participate in Eaton RESA team staff meetings, professional development opportunities, and
workshops.
● Respond to emails within 2 business days, maintaining timely communication with the
administrative team. Utilize vacation responder when off work for more than 2 business days.
● Communicate with partner agencies in a timely, professional manner, reporting all required
information on time and/or as needed.
● Understand adult education funding streams and meet grant requirements.
● Follow all Eaton RESA Adult Education program policies.
● Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
● Minimum Qualifications: Teaching Experience
● Education Required: Bachelor’s Degree / Michigan Teaching Certification
● Job Characteristics: Part-time/contractual (EduStaff)

● Position will require work in the evenings or summer months.
