Support - Paraprofessional (GSRP)
Summary:
We are seeking a temporary Paraprofessional to work as a Substitute/Floater/Relief Staff member for our GSRP program located at Grand Ledge. The ideal candidate will have experience working with young children and be able to provide support to the classroom teacher in implementing educational activities and maintaining a safe and positive learning environment.
Responsibilities:
- Assist the classroom teacher in implementing educational activities and lesson plans
- Provide individual and small group support to children in need of extra assistance
- Help to maintain a safe and positive learning environment for all children
- Supervise children during playtime, mealtime, and other activities
- Communicate regularly with the classroom teacher and other staff members to ensure the needs of all children are being met
- Complete administrative tasks as assigned by the classroom teacher or program director
Requirements:
Possession of a high school diploma or equivalent.
Advanced training in a community college or degree-granting institution whose early childhood
instructional training has been approved by the Department of Education, including one of the
following:
o Child Development Associate credential (CDA)
o Associate’s degree in early childhood/preschool education or child development
o One hundred twenty (120) clock hours of documented formal child care education offered by
approved training organizations and approved by the Michigan Department of education
o Bachelor’s degree with a valid Michigan teaching certificate with an Early Childhood Education
(ZA) or Early Childhood-General and Special Education (ZS) endorsement;
Desired
Possession of an Associate’s Degree in education, social work, psychology, or a related field.
Two (2) years or more experience working as an aide in a day care training program, preschool
classroom, or equivalent experience.
