Early Childhood Special Education Teacher

BCPS is seeking a passionate and qualified Early Childhood Special Education (ECSE) Teacher to support the developmental and educational needs of young children with disabilities. The ideal candidate will create a nurturing, inclusive learning environment that promotes growth in all areas—cognitive, social, emotional, language, and motor skills.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Develop and deliver individualized instruction based on each child's IEP
Create a safe, positive, and engaging classroom environment
Collaborate with families, paraprofessionals, related service providers, and general education staff to support student progress
Support student participation in both general education settings and self-contained classrooms, promoting inclusive practices whenever appropriate
Assist students with personal care needs, including toileting, feeding, and mobility, as necessary
Assess developmental levels and maintain accurate and up-to-date records
Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding student progress and goals
Participate in IEP meetings and multidisciplinary team discussions
Engage in ongoing professional development to stay current with best practices in early childhood and special education

QUALIFICATIONS:

Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate
ZS (Early Childhood Special Education) or ZA (Early Childhood) endorsement with additional Special Education Endorsement required/preferred
Demonstrated knowledge of child development and early intervention strategies
Experience working with children ages 3-5 with diverse learning needs
Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills
Must meet all of the NCLB qualifications
