PRINCIPAL - BROWN ELEMENTARY

Start Date of July 1, 2025

Primary Function:

The primary function of the Brown Elementary Principal is to serve as the educational leader of the school. Strong emphasis is placed on a collaborative approach to instructional leadership, management of the school programs, and the ability to support and enhance a positive learning environment. The principal must demonstrate strong effective human relations skills, respect for all individuals, high integrity, and a leadership style that supports collaboration. The principal is the lead decision-maker for all programs, activities, and initiatives. 

 Preferred Qualifications:

  • MA in educational leadership, curriculum/instruction, or related fields from an accredited university. 
  •  A minimum of three to five years of successful teaching experience and three successful years of experience in administration or leadership experience.  
  • A clear approach in order to be collaborative in the decision-making process while building positive relationships.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of current educational issues and practices including but not limited to: understanding of Restorative Practices and supporting student behavioral issues at the elementary level, knowledge of Multi-Tiered Systems of Support, a deep understanding of curriculum, assessment, and instruction at the K-4 level, a background in the Leader in Me curriculum or a background in implementing a Social/Emotional curriculum, and a clear plan for communication for all stakeholders. 
  • Demonstrated leadership and success in parent/community relations, team building, and the PLC process.
  • A leadership style that supports collaboration and open communication. 
  • Collaborate with parents, staff and students to develop and implement preventive strategies that will improve student achievement and student behavior. Utilize the School Improvement process to gain feedback in order to make the necessary adjustments at the building level.
  • Excellent and effective communicator (oral, written, and technological communication skills).
  • Ability and desire to work as an effective member of the leadership team. 
  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent may find appropriate and acceptable.
